Best premium players in Serie A Fantasy

We take a look at the pricier options in the game and pick out the best premium players in Serie A Fantasy for the season ahead. Our regular contributor and Serie A Fantasy expert @FplRossoneri (Nick) takes a look through the top premium assets right here.

Focusing on the best premiums players in Serie A Fantasy can be vital for fantasy managers. Premium players have some of the best return rates in the game which bodes well for those looking for captaincy options.

Danilo – Juventus – €6.4m

The ex-Man City and Real Madrid player who topped the overall points charts with 308 points last season comes in at a price of €6.4m. He helped Juventus keep 20 clean sheets throughout last season and also had six goal contributions, with three goals and three assists. Juventus have a great start in terms of fixtures so Danilo should be in your thoughts.

Danilo further amassed 156 tackles/blocks/interceptions in the season which was the highest in the league and contributed to 42 extra points because in Serie A Fantasy, you get one point for every three tackle/block/interception. Danilo played almost every single minute of last season and that should continue in the new season as well.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – Napoli – €7.4m

Di Lorenzo had an absolutely wonderful season last year with Napoli helping them to the Scudetto after 33 years. Napoli kept 18 clean sheets and conceded the league lowest of just 28 goals in the whole season which meant a bucket load of fantasy points for Di Lorenzo.

Di Lorenzo scored 288 points last year and thus the price bump up to €7.4m this year making him the most expensive defender in the game. Di Lorenzo also contributed with three goals and four assists in the season and given Napoli’s relatively easier start in terms of fixtures, I expect him to rack up points in the new season as well.

Ivan Provedel – Lazio – €6m

Lazio’s goalkeeper Ivan Provedel ended up with the second highest points scored in Serie A Fantasy last season with 291 points. Lazio kept the most clean sheets last campaign with 21 shutouts in 38 games, and Provedel played a major part in this and thus his price bump this season up to €6m is not a surprise.

He had a save percentage of 76,9% which was the highest in Serie A last season, he also boasted the most goals prevented stat – 3.3 which shows his consistent performance throughout the season. Provodel along with Mike Maignan and Meret have been classified as the premium GKs in Serie A Fantasy.

Rafael Leao – AC Milan – €11m

In the midfield, for the premium budget category there are three standout players, Leao, Kvaratskhelia and Dybala. Leao has easily been Milan’s most consistent and important player in the last few seasons and even with the great transfer season they are having, I don’t see Leao’s importance changing. Last year, Leao contributed 15 goals and eight assists in 28 starts at an xG of 10.86 and xA of 6.19 respectively.

Leao comes in at a premium price of €11m in this year’s Serie A Fantasy but he’s still not the most expensive. In my opinion, even though Milan have a difficult start in terms of early fixtures, given Leao’s calibre and prowess in the left wing position, I don’t think the fixtures should deter you from going for him.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – Napoli – €12m

Kvaratskelia had one of the most stellar first seasons a new player has had in a long time last season helping Napoli to the Scudetto. This also showed in fantasy terms as “Kvaradona” finished as highest points scoring midfielder in Serie A Fantasy with 258 points.

Kvaradona finished the season with the most assists too with 10 and just behind Rafael Leao for big chances created with 14. Given his performances last season, he also had the biggest price bump going from just €7m last season to €12 this season making him the joint most expensive Serie A Fantasy player along with his teammate Osimhen.

Paulo Dybala – AS Roma – €11m

Dybala showed last season just why Mourinho wanted him to join him at Roma. There is a saying that fits Dybala’s description perfectly, “Form is temporary, class is permanent”. Dybala racked up 12 goals and six assists in just 21 starts last season at an xG 9.27 and xA of 4.51 respectively and was one of the main attacking midfielders for Roma.

Given his great showing on field last year, he has also received a price bump to €11m and with Roma’s relatively easier initial fixtures, I think he could be a great buy in the premium bracket next season. As has been the case with Dybala for several years now, my only concern is fitness, if he can stay healthy I have no doubt he can replicate his great performances from last season.

Victor Osimhen – Napoli – €12m

Victor Osimhen scored 26 goals and four assists last season which also helped him clinch the coveted Capocannoniere award as well. Osimhen finished with 255 points out of which 128 points came from the 24 goals from open play and two penalties he scored in the season. Not surprisingly, he also finished with the most goal contributions of 30 G+A and highest overall xG of 21.4 and most shots per 90 mins: 4.7 as well.

Osimhen should be one of the first names in your Serie A Fantasy teams this year and it does look like he is going to remain at Napoli for at least one more year. He comes in at the top end of the premium price bracket in Serie A Fantasy at €12m but I believe he can justify that price tag with similar performances from last season.

Lautaro Martinez – Inter Milan – €11m

My final player selection to round off the premium price category in Serie A fantasy is no other than Lautaro Martinez, who has had another stellar season for the Nerazzuri. Martinez finished last season with 21 goals and six assists putting him just behind Osimhen for most goal contributions last season.

I think getting Lautaro Martinez from the start this year is a no brainer given that Lukaku and Dzeko have both left Inter and he’s become the new Inter captain too so Martinez should get consistent minutes right from the get go. Inter start the new season with great fixtures as they play Monza and Cagliari in the first two games.

Martinez is the designated penalty taker as well now and he is going to be the focal point of Inter’s attack. In my opinion, his price bump to €11m this year is justified considering the above and he should be in your thoughts when selecting your Serie A Fantasy teams.
