Introduction
The festive football is here and the first midweek matches of the season are upon us! In this article, I will review the weekend just gone and look ahead to GW14 and GW15 in Sky Fantasy Football.
GW13 Review
In a fairly low-scoring week, Pascal Groß was the hero for me. He returned two assists and picked up a passing tier in Brighton’s victory over Forest. Elsewhere, Haaland captain on Saturday brought some joy. Salah, Saliba and Watkins the only other players to pick up returns. Nick Pope continued to tick over with another save tier.
Despite saying last week I was set to skip the single gameday between Fulham and Wolves, Dunk’s red card and subsequent two match ban opened up an opportunity to move. His ban, coupled with the fact he is now on four yellow cards and the fact I already have Pascal Groß for the upcoming captaincy day, meant I bought Tim Ream for his three point return.
Overall, 63 points meant a tiny green arrow up to 3.7K heading into the festive period. A decent rank and position with 13 match weeks gone.

GW14 & 15 Transfers and Captains
There’s not one but two rounds of matches spread over five match days to plan for over the next week. Most of my captains pick themselves. The only real debate being Haaland v Salah on Sunday and Wednesday. As it stands, my armband is currently on Haaland for Sunday against Spurs. The thought of him lining up against Ben Davies and Emerson Royal attempting a high line has too much upside to ignore, no matter how good Salah’s fixture is.
For the Wednesday, I’m going to swap the armband with Salah going up against an injury-stricken Championship side (at best) in Sheffield United. Of course, we will see the team and if Klopp decides to rotate then Haaland is a very able deputy against Villa’s high line.
On the other days, Saliba (WOL on Sat and LUT on Tues) and Son (WHU on Thurs) are no brainers. Potentially Saka could rival Saliba if you own him, especially on Saturday against Wolves.
As long as Bowen is back available, as reports suggest, I’m only considering one transfer over the next week – Pope to Sanchez. Doing this move on Sunday means a fixture gain for Sanchez and means I can get someone in place for the Christmas Eve single gameday. The other option would be to hold Pope, by no means a bad asset, and move Ream in the future for Colwill nearer the time. That’s something for me to consider in the coming days.
Thanks for reading and good luck for the upcoming Gameweek. Remember to set your captains and plan your transfers! The festive fixtures are underway.
