Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 21?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 21.

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least eight shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20

Two bargains immediately stand out. Leon Bailey was backed by 1.5 million managers at the start of the season but quickly dropped in popularity and price. Now down to just £4.5m, the midfielder has started the last four league matches up front, bagging 12 points against Leeds on Friday night.

Furthermore, Southampton (a) and Leicester (H) are two brilliant upcoming matches, whilst team-mate Ollie Watkins was forced off after half an hour with an ankle injury.

Another who stood out on Friday at Villa Park was Wilfried Gnonto. The young Italian is a £5.0m forward and seems to be keeping his place in Jesse Marsch’s starting XI.

Elsewhere, Mohamed Salah blanked for the third successive occasion but Kai Havertz and Jack Grealish found the net. The latter is finally finding his feet at Man City, although he will always have rotation worries.
