Gameweek 18 best free hit team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use the help of the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 18 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all. However, Experienced FPL managers usually tend to use the chip in blank Gameweeks.

Fixture ticker

Who has the best fixtures?

Chelsea, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Tottenham are amongst the top five teams for having the easiest fixtures. This could indicate investing in these teams may be beneficial on the free hit.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Everton, Leicester, Aston Villa, Brighton and Leeds are amongst the bottom five teams for having the toughest fixtures. This could indicate avoiding those teams on a free hit could be beneficial.

The best free hit team

Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools available to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 18:

Goalkeepers

Chelsea are top of the fixture ticker with a meeting against Nottingham Forest. The newly promoted side have been one of the worst attacks in the league so far. For that reason, investing in the Chelsea defence should be a priority so investing in Kepa Arrizzabalaga (£4.5m) could be a wise choice.

Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4.1m) sits on the bench ready to come on, just in-case Kepa Arrizzabalaga does not feature.

Defenders

One way to invest in the Chelsea defence and attack, at the same time, could be Reece James (£5.8m). The wing back looks set to start and racked up 14 goal contributions last season. Newcastle and Man City rank as two of the best defensive sides in the league this season. For that reason, backing their most offensive defenders Kieran Trippier (£5.9m) and Joao Cancelo (£7.4m) could be another easy decision.

Wolves defender Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) and Everton’s Nathan Patterson (£4m) are two of the cheapest playing defenders in the game so help enable the pricier options within the team but remain on the bench.

Midfielders

Newcastle are in fantastic form and face a match against Leeds. Investing in the Newcastle attack is key so Miguel Almiron (£5.8m) is a very easy inclusion. In their last 10 matches, Wolves have conceded two or more goals on seven occasions. For that reason, it could be beneficial to include the in-form Marcus Rashford (£6.7m).

Liverpool and Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) have sustained some of the best offensive stats in the league over the last six matches. The Egyptian could have bags of potential against Leicester in Gameweek 18. Owning Erling Haaland is not enough in FPL due to his ownership. One way to benefit from the elite Man City attack could be the in-form Phil Foden. Against a team that are one of the worst in the league for shots in the box conceded, Everton, Foden could be a wise inclusion.

Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira (£4.6m) has been one of the best enablers in the game this season. Southampton lay ahead and Pereira will come on if one of the starting 11 does not feature.

Forwards

Erling Haland (£12.2m) is very much essential at this point. The Man City striker has scored 18 goals and created three assists so far and faces an Everton side who concede a lot of shots in the box, which will suit the Haaland and reinforces his position with the captaincy armband.

Fulham rank fourth on the fixture and who better to invest in then Aleksander Mitrovic (£6.8m). Mitrovic ranks as one of the best players in the league for attempts on goal and Southampton’s recent form is there to target.

Manchester United have maintained some brilliant offensive stats in the last six matches and with a game against Wolves next, it could be worth a double up with Anthony Martial (£6.7m).
