Best differential XI for Gameweek 5
In this weekly series, Will from Fantasy Football 92 explores the low ownership differential options that could be the hidden gems to help you climb up those world rankings.
We’ve all seen the template XI and figured out which elite assets to jump onto for this season. Whether on the Salah train, the Haaland bus or both, FPL managers need some unique names to ensure they’re always one step ahead of your mini-league rivals.
Here are the differential options we like the look of for Gameweek 5.
VICENTE GUAITA – CRYSTAL PALACE – GOALKEEPER – 1.4% TSB
Crystal Palace have struggled for clean sheets so far this season but a home game against Brentford signals the start of a kinder run of fixtures. Vicente Guaita could now be decent value at £4.5m.
DIOGO DALOT – MANCHESTER UNITED – DEFENDER – 3.7% TSB
A good value full-back has arrived. Diogo Dalot is firmly Erik ten Hag’s first choice right-back and he announced his arrival as an FPL asset this year with a clean sheet and assist in Gameweek 4. That 3.7% differential ownership should soon rise.
JOACHIM ANDERSEN – CRYSTAL PALACE – DEFENDER – 2.4% TSB
See the Guaita line above! Joachim Anderson has had a great start to the 2022/23 campaign despite having no clean sheets and he proved he can be a threat at the other end of the field with an unexpected goal at the Etihad on Saturday.
KIERAN TIERNEY – ARSENAL – DEFENDER – 0.9% TSB
Kieran Tierney came back into the Arsenal XI on Saturday against Fulham thanks to Oleksander Zinchenko’s injury. Mikel Arteta has since confirmed that the Ukrainian is missing again, meaning Tierney should be a good option against a struggling Aston Villa.
EMERSON PALMIERI – WEST HAM UNITED – DEFENDER – 0.8% TSB
We have our latest starting £4.0m player! Emerson Palmieri made his debut for West Ham against Villa (although he was hooked off at half-time) and should play once more against Tottenham with Aaron Cresswell struggling for fitness. If David Moyes reverts to a five-man defence, as expected, Emerson could be incredible value as a left wing-back.
JACK HARRISON – LEEDS UNITED – MIDFIELDER – 4.1% TSB
While everyone is flocking to get Leeds teammate Rodrigo, we are still sticking with Jack Harrison. Both blanked in Gameweek 4 but Harrison will be confident he can add to his attacking returns this time against a lacklustre Everton.
MASON MOUNT – CHELSEA – MIDFIELDER – 4.8% TSB
The flat track Fantasy bully hasn’t done any bullying so far, as Mason Mount is yet to register a goal or assist in this campaign. Chelsea face Southampton tonight in the kind of game that Mount usually comes to life in. He’s overdue.
BRUNO FERNANDES – MANCHESTER UNITED – MIDFIELDER – 2.1% TSB
Cristiano Ronaldo is still nowhere near the starting line-up at Man United and, coincidentally, Bruno Fernandes is starting to come to life once more. Bruno has already dropped to £9.8m but is looking sharp and took his winning goal at Southampton well. One to watch if you’re losing patience with Son Heung Min.
EBERECHI EZE – CRYSTAL PALACE – MIDFIELDER – 2.3% TSB
Another Palace asset set to benefit from nice fixtures. Eberechi Eze is performing superbly and has assists away at Liverpool and Manchester City to show for it. He is their chief creator at the moment, having created six chances so far in very tough fixtures. As the fixtures get kinder, he could be an explosive differential.
LEANDRO TROSSARD – BRIGHTON – MIDFIELDER – 2.7% TSB
Brighton are top class and although Pascal Gross is getting most of the credit, Leandro Trossard is also showing everyone why he’s considered their top man. The signing of Pervis Estupinan at left-back should enable Trossard to play further forward from now on, which will only serve to increase his FPL value. His fixtures look great too with Fulham, Leicester and Bournemouth up next.
RAUL JIMENEZ – WOLVES – FORWARD – 0.6% TSB
The Mexican international still looks a shadow of his former self but he is a nailed-on starter who was denied his first goal of the season against Newcastle because of VAR. With Bournemouth and Southampton up next, Jimenez will be confident of getting off the mark sooner rather than later.
