Women’s EURO Fantasy Football

The Women’s EURO tournament hosted by England kicks off on Wednesday 6th of July. This tournament will have it’s own Fantasy Football game. We take a look at the rules of the game and how to play.

Much like with the Fantasy Football tournaments which have been run for the men’s EURO and World Cup’s managers will need to select a dream team before the start of every round.

Managers will also be able to set up their own leagues within the game. These leagues can run through the whole of the Women’s EURO tournament or they can have different parameters. For example the league could be set to run for the group stages or just the quarter and semi-finals.

When does Women’s EURO Fantasy start and end?

The tournament runs from the 6th to 31st July.

There are six rounds in the competition.

Managers who play will have deadlines at each of the following stages of the competition.

  • R1 : 1st game day of the group phase
  • R2 : 2nd game day of the group phase
  • R3 : 3rd game day of the group phase
  • R4 : quarter finals
  • R5 : semi-finals
  • R6 : finals

How to play

Each manager will have a budget of £84m for their Fantasy Football squad.

From that budget managers will need to select a maximum of 16 players. However unlike in FPL managers can choose to invest their budget in less than the full 16 woman squad. If managers do pick a full 16 women squad they will have five available substitutes in addition to their starting 11.

The squad must be made up of no more than:

  • Two goalkeepers
  • Six defenders
  • Six midfielders
  • Five strikers

Managers will only be able to select a limited number of players from each country in their teams. This includes:

  • Only four players from the same team in the opening four rounds of the tournament (the group stage and the quarter finals)
  • No more than six players from the same country for the semi-finals
  • No more than eight players from the same team for the final

Team selection

Managers will be able to chose their line ups from the following:

  • 4-4-2
  • 4-3-3
  • 3-4-3
  • 3-5-2
  • 5-3-2
  • 5-4-1
  • 4-5-1

Managers will also be able to put up to five players on the substitutes bench. These five players will earn half of their points as if the manager had played them.

If managers do not change their teams between round the team will automatically save at the deadline the same format as the previous round.
