Fantasy5 Picks GW29: Son to haul again at Old Trafford

Pick five Premier League players to beat their Fantasy5 ‘points target’ and you could win a prize of up to £10,000.

We love alternative challenges at Fantasy Football Community, so we really enjoy the Fantasy5 game. It’s a free-to-play challenge, where each week you select a player from five matches who you back to beat their designated ‘points target’. It follows the exact same scoring system as FPL but without bonus points.

Get all five correct and you get a split of the £10,000 jackpot prize. Full terms and conditions are here.

In the meantime, we attempt to suggest five successful picks.

Gameweek 29 Fantasy5 picks

  • Brentford v Burnley
  • Man United v Tottenham
  • Chelsea v Newcastle
  • West Ham v Aston Villa
  • Arsenal v Leicester

Deadline is 15:00 (GMT) on Saturday 12 March.

Last week’s selection was heartbreaking, just like on Fantasy Football Scout. Both were successful with three of the five picks, although it was another week where a high number of players beat their points target. 14 this time.

Our picks of Ryan Fraser, Jadon Sancho and Alexandre Lacazette were all successful, whilst Scout correctly picked Dejan Kulusevski alongside the first two. A combination of these would have just been an Andrew Robertson assist away from immortality.

It’s time to pick ourselves up emotionally from this, dust down and go again. Starting with a Burnley pick, as Maxwel Cornet (7.5) and his team travel to Brentford in a huge relegation showdown. Until Gameweek 26, the reverse fixture was Burnley’s only win of the season and Cornet netted in the 3-1 victory.

Continuing the theme of historical meetings, Son Heung-min bagged two goals, an assist and 18 FPL points during Spurs’ 6-1 win at Man United last season. Even if he just delivers 50% of that, the 7.5 points target will be eclipsed. Sounds easy, right?

The plan was to keep going with this, as Reece James scored an incredible 21 points against Newcastle in Gameweek 10. However, his latest injury setback has instead led us to Marcos Alonso. Should he play, the attacking wing-back will be confident of beating his 7.5 target on Sunday. However, the Magpies are unbeaten in over two months and have scored in eight successive matches.

An injury to Jamie Vardy has also denied a place for him and his historical data. 11 goals from 14 league meetings with Arsenal looked good but Brendan Rodgers has confirmed a knee problem came up against Leeds. Therefore, in-form Harvey Barnes has been backed instead.

Looking at West Ham vs Aston Villa, neither Michail Antonio nor Danny Ings have a good record against their opponent. Therefore, weekend goal scorer Douglas Luiz (4.5) is tipped to at least get an assist in east London.

Gut feeling says this is a successful five. A quintet to wipe out last week’s heartbreak and finally deliver some Fantasy5 glory.
