Who were the best budget players in FPL 22/23?

We answer one of the most important questions as we edge closer to the the new season, who were the best budget players in FPL 22/23? We reel off some of the players who successfully became some of the best enablers in the game.

Looking at the best budget enablers in FPL 22/23 can be hugely beneficial to FPL managers. Budget players are a vital part of the game. Cheap players help enable the more pricier options within our teams whilst some of the best also provide us points when needed.

David Raya

Managers are always on the look-out for a cheap goalkeeper they can trust throughout the campaign and Brentford’s David Raya became exactly that. The Spaniard started the season priced at just £4.5m but his performances pushed his price-tag to £4.8m at the end of the season.

To put how good David Raya’s season into context, the shot stopper topped every other goalkeeper in the league for FPL points (166). Most of his points came from 12 clean sheets, save points and plenty of bonus points.

Eberechi Eze

The second highest scoring budget player was Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze. He started the campaign with a price-tag of £5.5m. The winger became a lot more investable towards the latter stages of the season when his sides run of fixtures improved.

Eze claimed just two returns in his first six games but then started to improve with two 10-point returns in the four games that followed. In his last eight matches Eze proved his explosiveness securing two 16-point hauls. He ended the season with a solid 10 goals and four assists.

Pascal Groß

Brighton became one of the best teams to invest in during the 22/23 campaign. Many backed the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and Alexi Mac Allister. Although both of those players turned into great options, none of them could top teammate and midfielder Pascal Groß.

Groß started the season priced at £5.5m. The midfielder got off to an explosive start last season, banking four returns in his first six matches, including two double-digit returns. Pascal Groß racked up 159 points which also made him Brighton’s highest scoring FPL player of the campaign.

Ben White

Not many managers came into the season knowing what to expect from Arsenal but they were fantastic and clinched a second place finish in the Premier League. Defensively, they finished amongst the best as well, keeping 14 clean sheets.

Ben White started the season with a £4.5m price-tag and playing in a centre-back role. His performances have helped him to hit a huge 156 points this season. As well as his clean sheets, White also notched up two goals and five clean sheets. The defender finished the season priced at £5m and as a certified left-back.

More great budget players from 22/23

  • Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron – He started the campaign costing £5m and went through a 10-match period securing a return in eight of them.
  • Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo – With a starting price of £6m Mbeumo eventually dropped to £5.7m, collecting nine goals and eight assists in the meantime.
  • Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira – The midfielder started the season at a jaw-dropping £4.5m. During the 33 matches he played he bagged four goals and six assists. Pereira became a fantasy favourite this campaign due to his price-tag.
