Underachievers GW32: Which players are due an FPL goal?

Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due an FPL goal.

Recent FPL goals

Some forwards are in great form over their last four matches:

5 GOALS – Ivan Toney

4 GOALS – Cristiano Ronaldo, Kai Havertz

3 GOALS – Kevin De Bruyne, Cucho Hernandez, Son Heung-min, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Wilfried Zaha

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product.

So let’s look at the players who have recorded at least nine shots, an expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00 and an expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20 over their last four matches, yet no more than one goal.

Due an FPL goal

None of last Gameweek’s names netted over the weekend. So the table has increased in quantity, with all 11 names set to play in Gameweek 32.

It’s a huge surprise to see Mohamed Salah here, considering the exceptional season he has had. After only blanking once in his opening 17 matches, returns have slowed to the point where he has now blanked in three of his last four. Yet it’s not for a lack of trying, as no player has had more goal attempts than his 19.

Fellow FPL heavyweights Sadio Mane and Bruno Fernandes also join the list, although the latter did set up Fred’s goal on Saturday. Assists came from Michail Antonio and Raphinha too, with Liverpool’s Luis Diaz an unused substitute.

Brighton forward Neal Maupay would still be here even if he didn’t blaze his penalty over the bar. He remains on zero goals, despite accumulating ten shots inside the box.

Meanwhile, Ollie Watkins scored his own spot kick but is still deemed a recent underachiever. Harvey Barnes was backed by many ahead of Blank Gameweek 30 but has been overshadowed by team mate James Maddison. It’s now seven blanks from nine league games for Man City’s Phil Foden.
