UCL Fantasy best budget players for Matchday 1

With the new round around the corner we take a look at some of the UCL Fantasy best budget players for Matchday 1. Using fixtures, stats, and team and player from we reveal some of budget picks with the most potential for the round ahead.

It could be extremely difficult to get all of the players you want into your squads at times which is why finding the UCL Fantasy best budget players for Matchday 1 can be absolutely essential. Budget players are great but finding cheap picks with massive potential could be even more beneficial.

Feyenoord

It has been several years since the Dutch side graced Europe’ big stage and last time out they finished bottom of their group. They did however have to face both Napoli and Manchester City that season. That may be the case but Feyenoord are not the same team as they once were.

Last season Feyenoord stormed Eredivisie and snatched the title from the grasp of both PSV and Ajax. That same campaign they also managed to bag 81 goals which is average of 2.4 per game. They also kept 13 clean sheets which shows defensive strength.

Feyenoord come up against Celtic in Matchday 1. Although the Scottish side are regular Champions League participants they have shown multiple times they cannot translate their domestic form into Europe. In fact, interestingly, the last time Celtic featured in the Champions League they conceded a huge 15 goals. If that wasn’t bad enough in the campaign before that they also allowed a whopping 18 goals between their sticks

With the above in mind it could be clever to invest in Feyenoord’ nicely priced assets. Some could look to full backs Lutsharel Geertruida (€4.5m) and Quilindscchy Hartman (4.5m). The former has already bagged a goal this season and secured three goals and two assists in his 22/23 domestic campaign. The latter, Hartman collected two goals and four assists in his title winning season.

A great and cheap route into the Feyenoord attack is Calvin Stengs (€6m). It could be a tough season with midfielders in the game and Stengs offers some hope. The Dutchman plays behind the striker and also picked up an impressive three assists and one goal in his last two matches.

Goalkeepers

Champions League Fantasy have provided us with some gems between the sticks this season. The standout option at budget price is of course Yann Sommer (€4.5m). Inter progressed all of the way to the final last season and racked up eight clean sheets in the process. With this in mind Sommer could well be the best goalkeeper option in the entire game this season.

The game didn’t stop with Sommer. They also provided us with some €4m goalkeepers to help enable our squads. One of them is Shakhtar Donetsk’ Dmytro Riznyk who faces Porto. He plays on the Tuesday which means we can rotate him out if he fails to return.

Another great option could be Benfica’ Samuel Soares (€4m). Although Benfica have signed a new goalkeeper Soares has played every match so far so until that changes he could be a great pick against Salzburg.

Leipzig

Leipzig have a fantastic first fixture and they have also started the season in fine form. The German side have won three of their first four matches this campaign including a 3-0 victory against league holders Bayern in the Super Cup.

Young Boys lay ahead for Leipzig which could be a great opportunity to attack with investment. The Swiss side have been extremely poor in both of their most recent campaigns in the Champions League so looking at both the defensive and offensive assets from Leipzig could be beneficial.

In terms of defence Leipzig have some good value players. One of them is goalkeeper Janis Blaswich (€4.5m). He plays on the first day of the Matchday where it looks like there is a lack of solid goalkeeper picks. The full-backs could also be hugely appealing at (€4.5m). Both Benjamin Henrichs and David Raum have both picked up at least two attacking returns early on domestically.

In attack Xavi Simons (€6.5m) could be brilliant value for money. The Dutchman has been in great early form for his new club scoring two and registering three assists in his last two domestic matches. He has also become an integral part of national side Netherlands as of late.
