Should we play a chip in Gameweek 34?

We try to answer one of the most important questions within the FPL community, should we play a chip in Gameweek 34? With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area and its fantastic tools, we can come to a conclusion.

As we approach the latter stage of the season managers will be looking to gain rank with the double Gameweeks ahead. For those that have chips remaining, they will all be asking themselves the same question. So, should we play a chip in Gameweek 34?

Gameweek 34

Firstly lets take a look at the Gameweek 34 fixtures. Below we can see that the fixture ticker has ordered teams at the top with the best fixtures and those at the bottom with the worst fixtures. We can also see that some teams have a double Gameweek in the round ahead. Those teams include Manchester City, Brighton, Manchester United, Liverpool, West Ham and Fulham.

Which chips could we use?

  • Wildcard – It could be a great time to use the wildcard chip. Preparing our teams for Gameweek 34 and the doubles ahead could be hugely beneficial for managers.
  • Free hit – The free hit could be well utilised this week. Many managers could struggle to get to the best Liverpool and Manchester City assets but those using the free hit could have a huge advantage.
  • Triple captain – It could be the last best time to use the triple captain chip. Manchester City have a great double Gameweek and who better to take the armband than the relentless Erling Haaland (£12.2m). Others could even consider Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£13m) who has great fixtures too.
  • Bench boost – Many will have difficulty benching some of their assets this week. Using the bench boost takes away that problem whilst also increasing users Gameweek potential.

Gameweek 37

Gameweek 37 could be the last opportunity managers have to use their chips if not in Gameweek 34. As we can see below Manchester United, Manchester City, Brighton and Chelsea all have a double Gameweek.

Using our chips here, instead of Gameweek 34, could have a far lesser impact due to the toughness of the fixtures, less teams doubling and the uncertainty around league positions and motivation to win.

Should we play a chip in Gameweek 34?

Yes. Gameweek 34 is the largest of the remaining double Gameweeks this season. Not just this but the fixtures are better for teams with better assets. For managers with chips like the wildcard, bench boost and triple captain, Gameweek 34 is the best time to use them.
