Serie A Fantasy teams with the worst fixtures
Italian Club Football is edging closer to its start. Because of this we take a look at the Serie A Fantasy teams with the worst fixtures. Serie A Fantasy expert @FPL_Crisk comes in to pick out teams to avoid as fantasy managers look to plan for the season ahead.
Looking at Serie A Fantasy teams with the worst fixtures can be really helpful as the new campaign approaches. Knowing which teams to avoid in terms of investment can help with things like building our first drafts and long term planning.
AC Milan
In the moments after the calendar was revealed, Milan fans were frustrated because of their early run of fixtures. Bologna and Torino are manageable, but between Round 3 and Round 10 Milan will have to face all of the other traditional Italian “Seven Sisters” with the exception of Atalanta.
Milan have some key assets that can always make a difference (Theo and Leao), and the Rossoneri usually do pretty well in tough matchups. However, dealing with all these big teams so early with a whole new midfield will take some adapting in terms of the Serie A style (Bennacer injured long term, Tonali sold to Newcastle).
Bologna
The Emilian team were quite the surprise package last season, finishing in ninth and impressing with their ability to challenge with the best teams in the league. At this moment in time there doesn’t seem to be any revolution in the ranks and despite players like the star-man Orsolini being on the radar of better teams, Thiago Motta is likely to have his key core of players at his disposal.
That said, Milan and Juventus as the first two opponents of the season, with defending Champions Napoli three Rounds later, is definitely not the best way to start the season.
Sassuolo
While Bologna were an incredibly convincing side, Sassuolo (despite finishing only 13th) were a great provider of fantasy assets offensively with the likes of Berardi and Laurienté being part of the template at some point of the season.
Frattesi has departed to Inter (which they’ll face in Round 6), but Berardi could easily continue to be the team leader despite the links with Lazio in early-June. However I don’t expect them to have a good start – they face four top teams (Napoli, Juventus, Atalanta and Inter) in the first six Rounds, and their end-of-season form last season was terrible, being third-to-last for points (only eight) in the last 10 games of the season.
Honourable mentions – Empoli and Monza
These two teams were very close to making the list, but didn’t for a single reason: last season they offered some of the best cheap enablers in the game with Vicario, Parisi (Empoli) and Carlos Augusto (Monza). Their early run is nothing to be desired (both face three top teams in the first five Rounds), but due to the fact that their players will likely be budget options, it’s probably fine to have them for the bench.
Just beware of the transfer market – Vicario has been sold to Tottenham, Parisi is wanted by Fiorentina and Carlos Augusto could become an Inter objective if they manage to sell Gosens.
