Most Popular Transfers for Gameweek 31

Heading into Gameweek 31, we use the official Fantasy Premier League (FPL) site to check out the most popular FPL transfers.

Managers are scrambling to get their teams ready in time for the Tuesday evening deadline. Some within the community may be unsure of what moves to make, so let’s highlight the most popular purchases and sales.

Naturally, Alexander Isak (£7.7m) is the most-bought asset following his 15 points of Gameweek 30. Two goals and an assist add to the couple he’d netted in the games beforehand, leading to a pair of price rises in just half a week. He’s about to face Everton at home.

New Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) owners will feel like they got away with the Egyptian ‘only’ scoring once on Sunday. His 12 shots were a personal record and the first time any Premier League player tallied a dozen since Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Man United days. Last-placed Sheffield United will visit Anfield on Thursday so expect Salah to be captained by millions.

Team-mate Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) is being bought by many as a downgrade that enables Salah. He could be a minutes risk though, unlike top-scoring defender Ben White (£5.8m). The Arsenal man has four attacking returns in his last six outings.

Meanwhile, the managers who sold Cole Palmer (£5.9m) for Blank Gameweek 29 paid the price for not immediately re-buying the Chelsea attacker. He matched Isak’s 15 points with a brace against Burnley.

Alternatively, you’d not think this short gap between Gameweeks would be enough time for someone to reach three-quarters of a million sales. Yet FPL’s highest-scorer Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) is both an injury doubt and about to visit Man City. Soon after he’s away to Arsenal, with no Double Gameweeks on the horizon.

Another player removed at half-time was West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola (£4.3m).

Owners will hope the Frenchman recovers in time for their Gameweek 33 hosting of Fulham. Elsewhere, Kyle Walker (£5.3m) may not be back from his hamstring injury by then but Anthony Gordon (£6.0m) is only suspended for one match.

As for James Maddison (£8.0m), he’s just the victim of there being many enticing midfield names. The Spurs midfielder isn’t quite as explosive.
