- Nashville have struggled of late (particularly in front of goal) but play twice at home in Round 27. This is why I’m inclined to take both Joe Willis and Walker Zimmerman, with the USMNT defender also capable of the odd set-piece goal.
- I’ve been burnt in the past by fading a DGW ‘keeper after only one game. So, I’ll probably stick with Willis through two games before bailing to Alex Bono or Roman Bürki if needed. Although, neither appeal given their teams’ respective form and fixtures.
- I’ll probably run an autoroo with two defensive scrubs this week, with Jordi Alba and Aaron Long therefore completing my back line alongside Zimmerman. Alba continues to rack up offensive returns and bonus points, while Long, like Zimmerman, may be the best of a bad bunch when it comes to clean sheet hunting this week.
- In midfield, Evander, Đorđe Mihailović and Riqui Puig are all locked in my team. Puig is an outside shout for captaincy following his heroics in El Tráfico.
- My other two midfield spots are up for grabs. Santi Rodríguez and Hany Mukhtar have two home games but have struggled for individual and collective form, respectively. However, the fact I can see two scores from Santi before the rest of the weekend games kick off means I may take a bench punt on him. Mukhtar is in the mix alongside Marco Reus, who currently makes my team on the strength of form and fixtures.
- Upfront, it’s hard to overlook Lionel Messi for captaincy even with two away games, unless Tata Martino benches him in midweek. I like the LA Galaxy’s fixtures enough to potentially triple up on their offense, with Gabriel Pec favoured over Dejan Joveljic thanks to his greater bonus point potential.
- Cucho Hernández is my remaining forward pick. The Colombian is capable of double-digit hauls on his day but will likely be a bench play for me given his ongoing struggles (by his own high standards) post Leagues Cup.

- This team will probably shift dramatically by the time kick-offs happen, so take all of this with that in mind.
- My keeperoo is currently on Gallese to Lloris. I think Orlando have a not-awful CS chance that first game and it gives me plenty of time to pivot to other options, including Lloris, if I need to.
- I am sticking with my DGW2 defender scrub autoroo so I am starting all three of Long, Wagner, and Alba. Wagner is on YCW so he is a risk to potentially miss out on the second game. Alba should definitely be a lock for most teams, and I’m hoping Long gives me some flexibility going into the later games Wednesday night to see what I can pivot to.
- My bench midfielders are players that could have massive games, or drop duds. Mukhtar and Nashville have been on the up-and-up recently so he is worth a bench spot and Facu has been on a tear at home recently. I really think he could carve open that Charlotte back line.
- My starting midfielders are ones that will probably be pretty chalk this week.
- Puig, Evander, and Miha all having solid matchups. But, I’d really like to see if I can fit in Gil somehow this week as well.
- For the forwards, I have a very out of form Chicho sitting on my bench hoping for a solid differential. But, my starting forwards will probably be fairly chalk as well, with Pec and Messi being my captain. If Messi doesn’t start, we all panic. But I will probably move him on my bench just to have coverage still, but I would honestly still consider captaining him.

- It’s a big DGW with SEA and NYRB on a single but no NYRB on Wednesday night.
- MIA are with two road matches but I’m tripling up, even though Leo may not start both back so soon from injury.
- ORL Torres is hot and CLTFC have conceded in a couple in a row so Kahlina sits bench to start.
- CLTFC need this one and Ream is coming off his first goal in MLS in 14 years so I think they bounce back.
- NSH are with two home games and maybe a new start so I’m taking a calculated risk there.
- I am going with a best two out of three strategy on scrubs to start.

- MID: Evander (POR:17.6 M); Evander is high for shots in the last couple of games and has a decent dgw matchup this week vs LA Galaxy And Real Salt Lake. He is a given in my line-up after five goals and seven assists in last nine games.
- FWD: Cucho Hernández (CLB; 13.2m): Cucho Hernández has been unstoppable this season. He has scored nine goals and has five assists in his last 11 starts. Cucho, Diego Rossi, and Christian Ramirez, the attacking trio for the Crew, have a lot of potential on a DGW and should be considered for your line-up this week.
- FWD: Messi (MIA; 15.5M); Given his history, it would be risky to fade him as long as he is in the starting line-up. He will probably remain the centre of attention for the Miami attack this dgw against Atlanta United FC and New York City FC. There aren’t many players that are capable of putting together a mega haul over two matches. I am tattooing the Captain’s armband on him this week.
