Arsenal and Manchester City Dumped Out of the Champions League!

How to invest in Man City for double Gameweek 23

We take a look at how to invest in Man City for double Gameweek 23. Looking at form and minutes to determine who could be the best picks whilst utilising the Fantasy Football Scout members area to help us.

Double game weeks can be the most exciting period of the season for many fantasy managers. They can help gain rank or an edge over mini league opposition if we pick the right players so looking at how to invest in Man City for double Gameweek 23 could be key.

Who do Man City face?

They face matches against Aston Villa at home and Arsenal away in their double Gameweek.

Man City

Man City are putting up fairly decent form. In the last 10 matches in all competitions they have won six, lost three and drawn once. Offensively things are looking good too. In the last six matches amongst all teams they rank third for goals scored (13), first for attempts on goal (103), second for attempts in the box (72) and first for big chances total (29).

Defensively it could be better. In the same 10 match period they kept four clean sheets. In the last six they rank second the best team for shots in the box conceded (39), second best for shots conceded (58), second best for shots on target conceded (14) and the best in the league for headed chances (eight) and attempts from set plays (14) conceded.

Man City are putting up some very good defensive and offensive stats so investing in both could be wise.

The opponents – Aston Villa

In their last 10 matches Aston Villa have won five, lost four and drawn once in all competitions. Defensively they have kept just two clean sheets. In the last six they rank around mid-table for most of the key attacking data points but rank the second worst in the league for big chances conceded (20).

Offensively Aston Villa rank amongst the best 10 teams in the league for goal scored (nine), attempts on goal (84), big chances total (11) and shots on target (27). They are putting up some fairly good offensive stats.

Arsenal

Arsenal are in very good form. In fact in their last 10 matches in all competitions they have won six, lost three and drawn once. In that same period they kept four clean sheets. During the last six matches in the Premier League defensively, they rank joint second best for shots in the box conceded (39), second for attempts conceded from set plays (15) and the third best for attempts conceded on goal (60). They also rank around mid-table for other defensive stats.

In terms of attack, Arsenal are strong. In the last six they rank fourth for goals (12), second for total attempts on goal (101) and first for attempts in the box (73). Arsenal are maintaining some great attacking numbers this season.

The best Man City attacking options

The standout option and most favourable captaincy selection in Gameweek 23 is Erling Haaland (£12.2m). The striker has netted a massive 25 goals this season already. Amongst all players in the last six he ranks first for goals (seven), first for big chances total (13) and joint second for attempts on goal (20). Not only is Haaland absolutely essential but it would take a brave manager to not captain him for the round ahead.

Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne (£12.4m) is also a very good option. No player in the league has created more chances or big chances than the Belgian this season. Although failing to start the last match, he looks fit enough to start both of his Gameweek 23 games.

Managers should also consider Riyad Mahrez (£7.7m). The Algerian midfielder ranks fourth amongst all players in the last six matches for non penalty expected goal involvement (4.35) and has also picked up four returns in his last six matches whilst also starting the last four consecutive Premier League matches.

The best Man City defensive options

The cheapest and most reliable defender in the Man City backline could be Manuel Akanji (£5m) who has started the last four Premier League matches in a row. Another option to consider would be Nathan Ake (£5.1m) who has started three of the same four matches. Of course the most reliable option in terms of minutes would be goalkeeper Ederson (£5.4m).

The best Man City options

Erling Haaland should be a priority and in every fantasy team going into Gameweek 23. Managers should also consider Kevin De Bruyne as the second best option. The third best option is close. We could either choose to back Maunel Akanji for defensive cover or Riyad Mahrez to triple up on the offensive line.
