GW22 Team Reveal – FPL Marc
Each gameweek, a member of the FPL community will kindly reveal their immediate plans and give us some insight into their decision-making process.
Ahead of Gameweek 22, it’s the turn of FPL Marc to tell us what he intends to do with his team.
Hi, Marc. So how did your Gameweek 21 go?
69 points and a slight rise from 407k to 376k. I ultimately went with the wrong West Ham captain, opting for Michail Antonio (9) over Jarrod Bowen (21) but the clean sheet for Issa Diop at least justified the four-point hit that brought him and Antonio in for Marcos Alonso and Teemu Pukki. Those initial games feel like so long ago!
My season was no better than average until Gameweek 19, when a Boxing Day incident meant my Free Hit didn’t go through and I took a massive drop from 247k to 436k. That Free Hit side would’ve gained another 50 points, so it’s hard not to look at the LiveFPL ranks and dream about what have been.
Are you pleased with your current squad? Who is a player you’d like to own but don’t?
I feel like every transfer for a while has just been me scrambling to catch up with the rest. I’ve never owned assets like Joao Cancelo, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva or Aaron Ramsdale and was panicking about being without Son Heung-min, until his injury intervened. I’d like to own Cancelo over Ruben Dias but, such is the current state of FPL, I’m finding it easier to say which players I want rid of (Cristiano Ronaldo, David De Gea, Demarai Gray) rather than which I’d replace them with.
What are your transfer plans for Gameweek 22 and beyond?
Although I do still have two Free Hit chips to use, I just don’t see the benefit of playing it this week – especially without Son. Each transfer is precious right now so I don’t want to use two on removing then re-buying Mohamed Salah. I suppose my main debate for Gameweek 22 is whether to bring in Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis, although I like the current three-man forward line. Beyond that? Don’t know yet.
And finally, what about captaincy?
Despite mentioning a desire to not have Ronaldo, I think he needs to be captain as a Double Gameweeker. If Dennis does come in, he could be very enticing for the trips to Newcastle and Burnley.
