Gameweek 21 Best Wildcard Team

We look at the Gameweek 21 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.

The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to your planning.

Fixture ticker

Below we can see that the fixtures ticker covers the next six Gameweeks (from Gameweek 21-26).

Who has the best fixtures?

Brighton, Sheffield United, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Fulham all rank in the top five with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Bournemouth, Burnley, Brentford, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest all rank in the bottom five with the worst fixtures.

Note: Players like Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min have departed to play tournaments with their national side. For a full list of players leaving for AFCON and the Asian Cup, check out this link here.

Goalkeepers

The lack of clean sheets this season could indicate that spending as little as possible between the sticks is a wise move. With that in mind we could opt for Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) due to West Ham’ recent defensive stability. We could choose to rotate Newcastle’ Martin Dubravka (£4.2m) with Areola due to the fixture swings.

Defenders

Manchester City have good fixtures ahead and the potential to have a double Gameweek on the horizon. The clean sheets may not be there for Manchester City at the moment but they are maintaining some of the best defensive metrics in the league. One of most reliable routes into the defence is Kyle Walker (£5.4m).

Brighton have a great set of fixtures ahead and after a clean sheet in the previous round things could start looking up for the Seagulls defensively. Regardless of clean sheets Pervis Estupinan (£5m) has massive potential. The Brighton full-back has already managed two goals and three assists in the league. He also scored two goals in his first three matches upon returning from injury.

Pedro Porro (£5.7m) has been a fantastic asset recently. The Tottenham full-back has managed five assists in his last 10 matches so far. Porro has proved he does not need the clean sheets to return but if they come then his potential is even higher.

Chelsea have mixed fixtures so Malo Gusto (£4.1m) could be a great addition to the starting 11 when a good fixture arrives. Gusto will likely replace the injured Reece James until his return and he has already picked up three assists with little game time this season which reflects his attacking potential.

Arsenal, like Liverpool are also producing some of the best defensive data in the division this season. Because of the this and the fixtures centre-back Gabriel (£5m) could help strengthen the overall team. Managers can bring him in and out of their starting 11 as and when they like.

Midfielders

Arsenal look to be challenging for the title this season and they have been fantastic in their attempt. Because of this and their fixtures buying into their frontline could be hugely beneficial and penalty taker Bukayo Saka (£9m) is of course the standout option.

Brighton have a great schedule ahead but they have also maintained solid attacking data all season. With that in mind Pascal Groß (£6.4m) could be a great option. The German tops all of his teammates for minutes played this season, FPL points and ranks in the best four players in the last six Gameweeks for non-penalty expected goal involvement.

Cole Palmer (£5.6m) has been fantastic for Chelsea this season and by far their most influential attacker. The penalty taker has racked up a mammoth 33 points in his last three matches due to five attacking returns. Chelsea also still sit as one of the best teams in the league for expected goals this season.

Manchester City have the potential to double in the period ahead which is another factor to consider. Doubling up on the Manchester City attack could be a very rewarding move and Phil Foden (£7.9m) helps with that. Foden is in top form recently – bagging three goals and two assists in his last three matches.

The Tottenham attack is one of the most exciting in the league but it is also producing some great numbers compared to other teams. Leading the attack is Richarlison (£6.8m) who has managed at least one return in his last five matches.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (£13.9m) should be back to full fitness after the break which means he could be essential again. The Norwegian has been excellent this season and still dominates the underlying attacking stats. Haaland is also arguably the standout captain for the run ahead. Staying up to date with Haaland’ fitness status will be key for his inclusion.

Aston Villa rank fourth on the fixture ticker so investing in them could be wise, especially as they sit second in the league due to a brilliant run of form. Leading one of the most efficient attacks in the league is Ollie Watkins (£8.9m). Watkins ranks as the third highest scoring player in FPL so far which shows how consistent he has been this campaign.

Enabling the squad is Luton’ Elijah Adebayo (£4.8m) who has scored four goals in his last six matches.
