Gameweek 13 best free hit team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use the help of the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 13 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all. However, Experienced FPL managers usually tend to use the chip in blank Gameweeks.

Fixture ticker

Who has the best fixtures?

We can see that West Ham, Leeds, Liverpool, Everton and Arsenal, all make it into the top five teams with the easiest fixtures. This could indicate investing into those teams could be beneficial for the free hit.

Who has the worst fixtures?

We can see that Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Man United and Southampton all make it into the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures. This could indicate excluding their assets from our free hit teams beneficial.

The best free hit team

Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools available to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 13:

Goalkeepers

Everton rank fourth on the fixture ticker with a home match against Crystal Palace. The Toffees have played five matches at home this season, conceding more than one goal in just one of those matches. They also kept back-to-back clean sheets against Liverpool and West Ham at home in Gameweek 6 and Gameweek 8.

Crystal Palace have also failed to score in two of their last four matches, suggesting some concerns in front of goal. Jordan Pickford (£4.5m) has the potential for both a clean sheet and save points. For all of those factors he makes the team. Pickford is backed up by Leicester man Danny Ward (£4.1m). He will only come on if the Everton goalkeeper does not play.

Defenders

Tottenham are another team who have a strong home record. In the five home matches they have played, they have won all of them, whilst also keeping two clean sheets. Manager Conte uses a wing back system. This indicates there could be value in investing at the back. Matt Doherty (£4.6m) has now started two Premier League matches on the bounce. With increasing minutes, fitness and attacking potential, he could be a great inclusion.

Man City have proven to be one of the best defensive units in the league. Joao Cancelo (£7.2m) sits as the highest scoring defender in FPL. His clean sheet and attacking capabilities combined are unmatched in the league. Liverpool face one of the worst offensive and defensive teams in the league. This could be a great opportunity to put our trust in one of the best attacking defenders in football. The increasing Liverpool defensive stability and fitness of Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m) could suggest him having plenty of potential for the Gameweek ahead.

Timothy Castagne (£4.5m) has now managed three returns on the bounce. The Leicester defender also proved his attacking capabilities with his assist against Spurs in Gameweek 8. An improving defence and a struggling for form opponent ahead could be enough to include him. Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi (£4.4m) comes in at a nice price and sits as the first substitute.

Midfielders

Amongst all teams in the league so far, Nottingham Forest rank the second worst for goals conceded, the second worst for attempts on goal and the joint worst for shots on target conceded. For that reason and his increasing form and improved positioning, Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) makes the team and takes the captaincy armband.

Arsenal rank as one of the best attacking teams in the league. One of the contributors towards that success is the fantastically priced Gabriel Martinelli (£6.7m). The Brazilian has managed six returns in his last 10 matches. On top of this, his opponents have also failed to keep a clean sheet all season. West Ham play against a team who are the third worst in the league for goals conceded and shots in the box conceded, for that reason Jarrod Bowen (£8.2m) makes the free hit. Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira (£4.6m) and Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey (£4.6m) will likely be unused on the substitute bench.

Forwards

There can be no doubt that the most owned and highest scoring player in FPL, Erling Haaland (£12.2m) makes the team. Leeds have been the second worst team in the league for big chances conceded in the last six matches. Aleksander Mitrovic (£6.7m) has the opportunity to exploit those stats as he has also maintained some of the best offensive stats in the game.

We have already stated Arsenal have one of the best attacks in the league. For that reason, it could be beneficial to double up on the attack with Gabriel Jesus (£8m). The Brazilian has already hit six returns in his 10 matches. These returns include a seismic 19-point haul, showing his potential.
