The new round is approaching and many within the community have started making early changes to their teams. Because of this we check out the highest owned players in the game and pick out the top 10 most popular picks for Gameweek 18 with the help of the Fantasy Premier League website.
Player ownership has become a massive part of Fantasy Premier League so knowing the top 10 most popular picks for Gameweek 18 can help when it comes to making hard decisions regarding the use of transfers, captaincy and more.
Note: Due to the quick turnaround player status, stats and percentages may fluctuate.
The Top Five
- Erling Haaland (77.4%) – The Norwegian has the highest ownership in the game going into the new round. However, Haaland does not have a fixture this week which could mean some either bench or sell him. Be warned though, he will return with a fixture in Gameweek 19.
- Bukayo Saka (58.7%) – Saka has the second highest ownership going into Gameweek 18. He has been one of the most consistent players in the game this season. But, with a game against Liverpool up it will be tough for him to continue that.
- Mohamed Salah (52.4%) – The Liverpool man is slowly creeping towards second place recently in terms of ownership. The Egyptian faces one of the best defences in the league next up when it comes to underlying data, Arsenal.
- Kieran Trippier (44.2%) – Trippier returns this week after being suspended in Gameweek 17. The Newcastle full-back has a fantastic opportunity to return to top FPL form this week as he comes face to face with strugglers Luton.
- Ollie Watkins (41.3%) – Watkins completes the top five highest owned players going into Gameweek 18. It could be a tough round for non-owners as he has a meeting against Sheffield United next, the team with the worst defence in the league.
The Rest of the Top 10
- Son Heung-Min (38.9%) – Son ranks sixth coming into the new round. The Tottenham midfielder comes up against Everton in Gameweek 18. Although seemingly easy on paper Everton have been in great recent form.
- William Saliba (35.5%) – The Arsenal centre-back is the second and final defender to make it into the top 10. Arsenal could be in for a testing week against Liverpool who are one of the best attacks in the league this season. Some may even consider benching Saliba if they have the capacity to do so.
- Alphonse Areola (33.7%) – The only goalkeeper in the top 10 highest owned players is this man. Areola has been frustrating owners for some time. That same frustration could continue for those that choose to start him as he faces Manchester United this week.
- Julian Alvarez (29.9%) – Alvarez appears to have dropped down dramatically recently in terms of ownership. That number looks set to drop even more this week as the Manchester City striker does not have a fixture to play in Gameweek 18.
- Anthony Gordon (24.2%) – The game against Luton could bring about plenty of potential for the Newcastle assets. Gordon has already managed four double-digit hauls this season and he could make it a fifth in Gameweek 18.
