FPL Reactions: top targets for Gameweeks 31-33
With two Double Gameweeks in the next three weeks choosing the right players will be key to success. Many FPL managers will choose to invest in purely those assets who play twice, however this can mean missing out. There are a number of single Gameweek players with an excellent game in both of the Double Gameweeks as well as good long term fixtures. Investing in one of those could be a better option. We asked FPL Reactions to share his top targets for Gameweeks 31-33.

Said Benrahma
At a cool £5.9m Benrahma has dropped to a really great price. This means at his price point he can be easily factored into our teams.
Teammate Jarrod Bowen is currently injured. According to some reports suggesting that injury is worse that initially thought. The impact of this means that Benrahma looks promising for the Hammers next match against Everton.
With only two clean sheets in the last 10 matches Everton look like a team to target. They are the fifth worst team in the league over the last six Gameweeks for shots on target conceded. They are also fifth worst for big chances conceded, thus they have painted themselves a target on their backs.
Benrahma can take advantage of both his current form (one goal and two assists) and the oppositions poor defensive form. With many managers looking more long-term and targeting the whole run in getting to Benrahma first could really gain you some rank.
If all that wasn’t enough Benrahma and West Ham also play the struggling Brentford and Burnley after that. This means Benrahma could also give you three great Gameweeks before you move him on.
Kai Havertz
At only 6.2% ownership in the game Havertz is a differential. At this point in the season to climb rank players will be looking to get ahead of their rivals and improve their rank by bringing these type of players in.
The Chelsea attack is usually very difficult to predict but the German has managed to cement a first team position over the last few weeks. Havertz has played eight in the last 10 competitive matches for Chelsea. The two matches missed were cup games, which indicates that he was just rested.
Havertz has registered six goals and one assist in those eight matches. He has also returned 33 FPL points in his last three matches, an average of 11 points per match.
Chelsea play Brentford next in Gameweek 31. Brentford have interestingly conceded the second most crosses from both the left and right flanks in the league. Combine this with the fact that Havertz has scored the joint most headed goals with Liverpool’s Diogo Jota amongst midfielders this season and the opportunity is clearly there for Havertz.
Playing Southampton after Brentford means the in form Chelsea striker (currently playing out of position in an advanced role) also has the opportunity to hold longer term. This is also furthered by the fact that Chelsea have a very likely chance of doubling in Gameweek 36 too. Havertz should be one of FPL managers top targets for the run in.
Reece James
Chelsea’s right wing back missed their last two Premier League matches with another injury but is now back in full training. On top of that he’s been pulled from the England squad to be given time to fully recover meaning he’ll be super fresh for Gameweek 31.
Being Chelsea’s third highest scoring player in FPL doesn’t sound hugely attractive. However when you factor in he’s missed seven of the the last 10 matches for Chelsea you’ll realise that when he does play he returns a lot of FPL points.
We’ve already covered the fact that Brentford have conceded the second most crosses in the league in the last six matches from both flanks but this hugely benefits Reece James. The young wing back has also accumulated a 0.40 expected goal involvement per 90 minutes which is third amongst all defenders. He is also joint second with Robertson for goal and assist total this season with 11.
James has given owners mega hauls of 18 points, 18 points and 21 points this season. This highlights his potential which is unmatched by most players in the game, including attackers.
With great fixtures ahead Reece James has to be considered one of the top targets for Gameweek 31 and beyond.
