Best Wildcard Team
With the help of the above and Plan FPL we built the best Wildcard for Gameweek 9:
Goalkeepers
Long-term, not many goalkeepers have a more suited schedule than Chelsea’ Robert Sanchez (£4.6m) and Brentford’s Mark Flekken (£4.5m). Owning both makes sure that we go into any given round with a reasonably good chance of keeping a clean sheet.
Defenders
Arsenal have failed to repeat their elite defensive form from last season, but this is the case with many other defences in the league. With that in mind it could be worth hanging on to someone like Gabriel (£6.3m) who ranks above every other defender for total shots in the box.
Manchester City are coming into a great run of fixtures. Although well below expectations from a clean sheet perspective Rico Lewis (£4.7m) is a constant threat. In fact, the youngster has already registered four assists this season.
Another side hoping to better their clean sheet tally thus far is Tottenham. It may be a matter of time before Pedro Porro (£5.5m) hits another attacking return as he dominates every other defender for total attempts on goal in the current campaign.
Two back-to-back clean sheets makes Everton a much more convincing side defensively. The Toffees have good fixtures with potential for clean sheets ahead and Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m) is the cheapest route into the backline.
Completing the defence is Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.4m). After a bleak start to the campaign the Wolves schedule appears to be softening in terms of difficulty. The Wolves full-back has produced two goals and one assist in his last three games.
Midfielders
Brentford face some of the worst defences in the league ahead so bringing in their standout attacker and penalty taker Bryan Mbeumo (£7.5m) should be simple. Mbeumo has started the season exceptionally – claiming six goals in his first eight matches.
Morgan Rogers (£5m) continues to improve for Aston Villa. Investment could be beneficial taking into account his form and excluding a budget player who has returned in three of his last four matches could be a mistake.
Chelsea faced mixed fixtures, with clashes against two promoted clubs in-between meetings. The Blues sit third best amongst all teams for goals scored this season and contributing to 11 of them with goals and assists is penalty taker Cole Palmer (£10.8m).
Ranking amongst the top two sides for most underlying attacking metrics is Tottenham. One part of their attack is Brennan Johnson (£6.7m) who prior to his previous game managed a goal in each of his last three matches.
Everton have a brilliant schedule ahead according to the fixture ticker. Recent results suggest the Toffees are on an uphill trajectory and part of that is due to Dwight McNeil (£5.7m). As well as producing some of the best distribution data amongst all midfielders McNeil has managed five returns in his last five matches.
Forwards
Manchester City have scored more goals than any other side in the league so far so owning Erling Haaland (£15.4m) may be non-negotiable. The Norwegian stands out as the best captaincy option for most rounds ahead.
Joining Haaland and completing the Spurs double up in attack is Dominic Solanke (£7.7m). Spearheading one of the most statistically dominating sides in the league Solanke has huge potential with fixtures ahead. Prior to his recent match he also manged three consecutive returns in the league.
One player who can’t stop scoring at the moment is Fulham striker Raul Jimenez (£5.7m). The Mexican goes into his next match off the back of securing a goal contribution in every single one of his previous five matches, making him one of the most consistent attackers in the game currently.
