Best players to buy

FPL Gameweek 6-8: Best Players and Chip Strategy
  • Manchester City – A change of fixtures makes Manchester City a good team to invest in for the period ahead. There is some rotation in defence, so it could be difficult to pick out a reliable asset. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (£5.5m) could fit the bill, but there is some risk. In attack, things are slightly more settled. Striker Erling Haaland (£14.2m) is the standout option, whilst Tijani Reijnders (£5.7m) also starts every match. Fellow midfielder Phil Foden (£8m) could be another player worth monitoring.
  • Bournemouth – The Cherries are another side FPL managers will be hoping to buy into. Goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović (£4.5m) is one of the cheapest options, along with flying full-back Adrien Truffert (£4.5m). The best of the bunch in defence appears to be centre-back Marcos Senesi (£4.7m) who has racked up more defensive contributions than any other defender thus far. Midfielder Antoine Semenyo (£7.6m) has been one of the best performing assets in the game this season. Leading the attack is Francisco Evanilson (£7m).
  • Arsenal – A fixture swing for Arsenal makes them a very appealing side looking ahead. David Raya (£5.5m) is one of the cheapest and most reliable defender picks. Centre-back Gabriel (£6.1m) could be who most back due to his attacking threat. Spearheading the attack is Viktor Gyokeres (£9m) who continues to impress. Many could be hoping for Bukayo Saka‘ (£9.8m) return from injury. Fellow midfielder Eberechi Eze (£7.5m) comes in much cheaper though.

Who else should we consider?

  • TottenhamGuglielmo Vicario (goalkeeper – £5.1m), Mickey van de Ven (defender – £4.7m), Xavi Simon (midfielder – £7m).
  • Aston VillaEzri Konsa (defender – £4.6m), Morgan Rogers (midfielder – £7m), and Ollie Watkins (striker – £8.8m).
  • BrentfordIgor Thiago (striker – £6m).

Should we play a chip?

FPL Gameweek 6-8: Best Players and Chip Strategy
  • Wildcard – Using the Wildcard chip ahead of Gameweek 6 could be wise. Moving off Liverpool assets, and bringing in Arsenal and Manchester City players are just three factors making it worthwhile. It could also be a great time to set up for a bench boost.
  • Bench Boost – As mentioned, setting up a Bench Boost from a Wildcard is usually optimal. Gameweek 8 when Burnley face Leeds could be the round that FPL managers are targeting.
  • Triple Captain – Gameweek 6 may be a good opportunity to use the triple captain chip. Manchester City face Burnley then, which could mean huge potential for Erling Haaland.
  • Free Hit – Some could also use the free hit in Gameweek 6. This would allow many to temporarily bring in Haaland and switch out Salah for the Norwegian’ fantastic schedule.
