FPL Gameweek 29 Best Head-to-Head Record Players

After a Double in Gameweek 28 we look ahead to FPL Gameweek 29. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we dig into the history books and go through some of the best head-to-head record players for the round ahead.

FPL managers can base their decisions on factors like team and player form, chips, captaincy and even ownership. However, sometimes a player can be very effective against specific teams. So, checking out which players have good records against upcoming opposition in FPL Gameweek 29 could be hugely beneficial.

Ivan Toney v Burnley

Brentford need a result after losing four of their last five league matches and this week could be a good opportunity to do that. Burnley lay ahead this week, a side who continue to leak goals, something Ivan Toney (£8.1m) could take advantage of.

As we can see, last season Toney has a very successful campaign against promoted sides. In the four matches he played against them he managed four goals and 33 points. In the season prior to that he also managed a monstrous 17-point haul against Norwich.

James Maddison v Fulham

Tottenham go into their Gameweek 29 fixture off the back of a huge 4-0 win against top four rivals Aston Villa. They have a meeting with Fulham next up, a side who have shipped two goals in three of their last six matches.

James Maddison (£7.9m) seems to have a very good record against the Cottagers. As we can see, between 2018-2020 the Englishman managed one goal and three assists in just four matches.

What is also interesting is that not only did Maddison score and assist against Fulham last season but in his first match against them this campaign he hit nine points due to a goal and bonus.

Jarrod Bowen v Aston Villa

West Ham have picked up some form recently – winning two and drawing one of their last three matches. The Hammers also hit the back of the net nine times in that same period, averaging three goals per game. Aston Villa, lay ahead this week who have conceded a huge eight times in their last three fixtures.

FPL managers will be hoping Jarrod Bowen (£7.9m) takes advantage of the above this week. That wouldn’t be a surprise either as he has a good record against Aston Villa. In fact, between 2019-2021 Bowen hit two double-digit hauls in just three matches against them.

Interestingly Bowen has already managed to bank a return against Aston Villa this season – scoring and picking up eight points.

Ollie Watkins v West Ham

West Ham may be in form from an attacking perspective but defensively things have been tough – shipping a massive 16 goals in their last six games.

Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back this week after taking a 4-0 beating from Tottenham. One player who has the potential to bounce his team back is Ollie Watkins (£9m).

We can see that between 2020-2021 Watkins returned in two of the four matches he played against West Ham. Watkins has already collected a huge 11 points against the Hammers this season due to a goal and an assist.
