FPL: @FPLReaction’ Top Three Picks for Gameweek 38

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is edging closer so we invited regular contributor and fantasy football whizz @FPLReaction to reveal his top three picks for Gameweek 38. His picks are all players he thinks are going under the radar for the round ahead.

Seeing @FPLReaction’ top three picks for Gameweek 38 could be extremely enlightening. As we approach the deadline many within the community may be unsure when it comes to which players to buy. These three picks could help bring clarity around those decisions.

The Obvious Options

  • Bukayo Saka (£8.9m)
  • Gabriel (£5.4m)
  • Cole Palmer (£6.3m)
  • Nicolas Jackson (£7m)
  • Mohamed Salah (£13.4m)
  • Erling Haaland (£14.3m)
  • Phil Foden (£8.5m)
  • Josko Gvardiol (£5.2m)
  • Alexander Isak (£8.4m)
  • Anthony Gordon (£6.4m – If fit)
  • Son Heung-Min (£10m)
  • Pedro Porro (£5.9m)

Michael Olise

The final week is here! I think those looking to meet their rank and mini league targets that have not yet done so will need a differential this week. For me, Crystal Palace are one of the teams to go to for that. The Eagles have been brilliant recently and five wins in their last six league matches reinforces that.

With 15 goals in their last five Crystal Palace go into their final game against Aston Villa full of confidence in front of goal. Now, Villa have been exceptional this campaign, but after achieving Champions League football for next season, their motivation is hugely questionable. Three losses, one draw and 10 goals conceded in their last four matches also shows they could be a team to target.

Crystal Palace have three great options to target the Aston Villa backline with this week. We could look at the striker who spearheads the frontline, we could even opt for the penalty taker. However, we may also opt for Michael Olise (£5.7m). The Frenchman has been hugely influential recently after hitting four goals and two assists in his last five league matches. His explosiveness is also promising. In fact, in each of his last five matches in which he has returned, he’s managed 2-3 attacking returns.

Kai Havertz

The midfield bracket looks like it could be the best position to invest in this week if looking to gain rank. The reason we have so many extra midfield options with low ownership knocking about this season is because we can’t fit them all into our teams, if we could, my next pick would be much much more popular.

Who better to invest in than Arsenal this week as they go into a must win game in a final stand to claim the Premier League title. Them failing to do this is likely due to Manchester City but I have no doubt in my mind that Arsenal will still win and win well.

Because of the above I think Kai Havertz (£7.5m) could be a great option. Havertz has been a revelation for the London club this season. Recent form is also something we should be well aware of – with three goals and two assists in his last four league matches. At his current ownership and form I think Havertz could even be a priority transfer in for many, even for those who don’t own Bukayo Saka.

Morgan Gibbs-White

It’s no surprise that my third and final pick is a midfielder. The uncertainty of Anthony Gordon and lack of conviction from Manchester United assets like Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho makes it one of the best positions to replace this week.

Nottingham are safe and will play in the Premier League again next season, so could there be a lack of motivation? Potentially yes, but the fact they play against Burnley on the final day kind of balances that out a little. Burnley remain a team to target and that’s exactly where we are going with this selection.

One of the most exciting and convincing options in the Nottingham Forest frontline is Morgan Gibbs-White (£5.7m). Without him I think Forest would have been relegated this season. Not only is he hugely influential for his side but he has also being very efficient in terms of output. Eight goals and assists in his last eight matches is an excellent feat and one we should not ignore. For that reason Gibbs-White is an easy addition amongst my top three picks for Gameweek 38.
