Fantasy5 Picks GW33: Martinelli and Toney tipped for goals

Pick five Premier League players to beat their Fantasy5 ‘points target’ and you could win a prize of up to £10,000.

We love alternative challenges at Fantasy Football Community, so we really enjoy the Fantasy5 game. It’s a free-to-play challenge, where each week you select a player from five matches who you back to beat their designated ‘points target’. It follows the exact same scoring system as FPL but without bonus points.

Get all five correct and you get a split of the £10,000 jackpot prize. Full terms and conditions are here.

In the meantime, we attempt to suggest five successful picks.

Gameweek 33 Fantasy5 picks

  • Man United vs Norwich
  • Southampton vs Arsenal
  • Watford vs Brentford
  • Newcastle vs Leicester
  • West Ham vs Burnley

Deadline is 15:00 (GMT) on Saturday 16 April.

Last week’s selection was unnecessarily risky. In the end, neither Nuno Tavares or Romelu Lukaku featured at all, whilst Matt Doherty picked up a season-ending injury. The assist of Wilfried Zaha wasn’t enough to succeed and Phil Foden couldn’t continue his fantastic record against Liverpool. Overall, ten players beat their target, including high-profile names like Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Mason Mount and Timo Werner.

The very high targets for Man United players seem unjustified. A very unconvincing team, yet Cristiano Ronaldo (9.5), Bruno Fernandes (11.5) and Marcus Rashford (10.5) are eye-wateringly expensive. Therefore Jadon Sancho (8.5) is the least bad option for the visit of Norwich.

For Arsenal, Gabriel Martinelli (7.5) gets the nod after rumours that Alexandre Lacazette (6.5) missed Wednesday’s training session. If this means the French international misses out, there is out-of-position potential for Martinelli against a side that just lost 6-0.

Forwards don’t often get picked here because the default 6.5 target requires two goal involvements to overcome. But Ivan Toney is in such great form – six goals, two assists and 48 points from his last five FPL outings – that he could easily haul when travelling to Watford.

Newcastle v Leicester is one of the selected matches. They are the highest-ranking teams on Fantasy Football Scout’s Fixture Ticker for this Gameweek. As it’s hard to say what team and mindset the Foxes will have due to their European exploits, it might be best to choose a Newcastle option. Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes (6.5) isn’t a high goal scorer but has impressed in his few Premier League matches so far. Recent goals against Southampton and Bolivia show the potential.

Finally, Burnley is a common Fantasy trap but West Ham has only just played in Lyon. Their loss to Brentford last week hints that the workload is starting to show, so the Clarets have a solid chance of victory here. Josh Brownhill (4.5) is backed to provide an assist.
