Expected price falls
At the end of every season there are a number of players who have fallen short of FPL managers expectations. Therefore these are the players that FPL managers are anticipating expected price jumps for.
Every summer Official FPL revisit the prices of FPL assets before the launch of the new game. As a result of both performances and points scored in the 2021/22 season there are a number of players that FPL managers are expecting to cost less for the start of the new season. We list some of those assets and why the FPL community are expecting them to rise in price.
Bruno Fernandes
Fernandes was FPLs top scorer in the 2020/21 season. He also started the 2021/22 season with a hat-trick in Gameweek 1. As a result FPL managers were expecting him to have another great season. However, Manchester United underachieved by their normal standards last season, as did Fernandes. Despite ending the season as the sixth most expensive player in the game, 23 players outscored Fernandes this season. As a result of his much lower total score this season many FPL managers area expecting the midfielder to take a price drop for 2022/23.
Romelu Lukaku
When Lukaku joined Chelsea many FPL managers were excited. Priced at £11.5m he was siginificanty cheaper than the likes of Harry Kane and Ronaldo and therefore he was tempting. However, Lukaku only scored 87 points this season. As a result if Lukaku stays at Chelsea for the 2022/23 season then managers expect to see his price reduced.
Patrick Bamford
Bamford was hugely popular with FPL managers in the 2020/21 season and his good returns saw him rise in price. The Leeds striker saw a price increase of £2.5m for the 2021/22 season. He started 2021/22 at £8m up from £5.5m the previous campaign. However, injury has meant that he has only played in nine matches this season, in that time earning just 28 points. As a result FPL managers are expecting a price drop for 2022/23.
