EURO 2024 Fantasy Croatia Top Picks

In this article we take a look at the EURO 2024 Fantasy Croatia top picks. Here we touch upon the recent form of Croatia, how they achieved qualification, highlight their best picks, and anything else of relevance.

Our EURO 2024 Fantasy Croatia top picks could be crucial for managers. Knowing how a team has been performing recently can be helpful. But, knowing who the best picks from each team can be essential for the tournament ahead.

Croatia remain tough opposition at international level. In the recent 2022 World Cup they progressed all of the way to the semi-final, there they were eventually beaten by winners Argentina. They did however win the third-place play-off, signalling an overall success for the national side.

For context it could be worth highlighting that on their path towards the semi-final they won just one of their matches within 90 minutes, drawing four of the same five games.

As we can see in the image above, Croatia also had success in the Nations League, topping their Group ahead of teams like France, Denmark and Austria.

The Nations League form above led them to the final where they were edged by Spain on penalties.

Croatia also finished second in their EURO Qualifying Group against the likes of Türkiye and Wales. There they also scored 13 goals, averaged 1.6 per match, conceded just four goals and kept five clean sheets.

Following their Qualifiers Croatia drew to Tunisia (eventually winning on penalties) and beat Egypt 4-2 in friendlies.

Fixtures

Croatia’ opening match sees them clash with Spain in Matchday 1. Spain recently won the Nations League and have also been in great recent competitive form since.

Croatia then come up against arguably their weakest opposition, Albania. Albania topped their EURO Qualifying Group but have also failed to win any of their last four matches.

Italy lay ahead on Matchday 3 which could end up being a decisive match in the Group. Italy came second in their EURO Qualifying Group, behind England, but they also claimed a third place finish in the recent Nations League.

Top Picks – Josip Šutalo

The fact Croatia conceded just one goal in their 20222 World Cup Group Stage and followed it up with five clean sheets in EURO Qualifying, makes them investable in regards to defence.

Considering the above but also taking into account the difficulty of their upcoming opposition, along with goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic (5m), is Josip Šutalo (€5m).

Josip Šutalo had a tough club campaign Ajax. The Dutch giants struggled last season and that contributed to the three clean sheets Josip Šutalo collected from 23 league matches.

However, Šutalo not only scored for Ajax on the final day of the season but he also maintained an impressive average of 6.7 ball recoveries per match during the EURO Qualifiers which could be a deciding factor towards his appeal.

Joško Gvardiol

For just €0.5m extra EURO Fantasy managers could opt for Joško Gvardiol (€5.5m). The Manchester City defender has been exceptional for club this season and played a key role in securing another Premier League title for them.

In his 23/24 domestic campaign Gvardiol hit four goals and one assist, interestingly three of those four goals came in his last five matches. During that period he also maintained 5.4 ball recoveries per match.

For country Gvardiol has become a leader at the back and that same leadership saw him score a significant goal in the 2022 World Cup.

Although lacking offensively in EURO Qualifying he did however produced 6.2 ball recoveries per match, which means an additional two points per game from a EURO Fantasy perspective.

Luka Modrić

At 38-years-old it appears to be Luka Modrić’ last international tournament for Croatia. The midfielder has been hugely influential for both his country and club side Real Madrid for some years now and is one of the most decorative midfielders in Europe currently in terms of silverware.

The 2022 World Cup wasn’t his best tournament but three goals and one assist in eight Nations League games recently shows he still has it in him to both create and score.

Modrić also takes both corners and free-kicks as well which helps drive up his assist potential in any given match. Although letting slip penalties over the years, when Andrej Kramarić isn’t on the pitch, you can be sure he will step up and take it.

Andrej Kramarić

Leading the very capable Croatia frontline is striker Andrej Kramarić (€7.5m) who has been an ever growing presence in his country’ attack.

Kramarić had an excellent 23/24 domestic campaign with Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim, scoring 15 goals and creating six assists in 30 league matches. What is important to highlight is that seven goals and five assists from his season total came in his last eight league matches.

The above suggests he goes into EURO 2024 with maximum confidence. If his quality wasn’t clear enough to see from his domestic form then the four goals he scored in just six EURO qualifying matches should be.

Andrej Kramarić is also seemingly the designated penalty taker. With that and the above, Andrej Kramarić is one of the standouts amongst the Euro 2024 Fantasy Croatia top picks.

One to Watch – Lovro Majer

One Croatia player we should keep an eye on is midfielder Lovro Majer (€6.5m). Majer managed a modest five goals and five assists for club VfL Wolfsburg in his 23/24 campaign but seems to be a little more assertive at international level.

Majer was consistently amongst the goals in recent competitions. He picked up a goal and an assist in his recent EURO Qualifiers, a goal and an assist in their Nations League running and produced a goal and an assist in a recent friendly against Egypt.
