Differential Potential: The best for Double Gameweek 33

Ahead of Double Gameweek 33, it’s time to find differential players that can provide a huge ranking boost for FPL managers.

Definition of differential

For this article, we will pick five players with under 5% ownership both overall and within the top 10k. Some managers are planning to Wildcard in Gameweek 34, therefore this round’s transfer(s) are one-week punts that, if successful, could do great things to their ranks and mini-leagues.

Using LiveFPL’s ownership figures, here are interesting differentials from the seven teams to play twice in Double Gameweek 33.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester, £7.1m, owned by 3.7% overall)

With Jamie Vardy still injured, it seems like Kelechi Iheanacho is Leicester’s first choice forward over Patson Daka. Although rotation could be a problem – considering they face PSV on Thursday night – Daka has only played 92 minutes of their last seven matches. Therefore, FPL managers may hope Iheanacho has a similar finish to last season. He scored 11 goals in those last 12 matches and will face Newcastle (a) and Everton (a) in the double. 4.58% of the top 10k own the Nigerian.

Jadon Sancho (Man United, £8.9m owned by 3.0% overall)

It’s hard to predict Man United’s Double Gameweek, as they have Norwich at home and a trip to Liverpool. Additionally, their assets have often been a letdown when relied upon in this FPL season. For a short-term punt, perhaps Jadon Sancho is their most interesting option. Playing regularly and generally looking better since Ralph Rangnick’s arrival, just 1.18% of the top 10k have Sancho.

Dan Burn (Newcastle, £4.4m, owned by 0.7% overall)

Friday’s win over Wolves likely secured Newcastle’s place in the top flight next season. Even so, they will be eager to confirm this during their promising home double against Leicester and Crystal Palace. Four clean sheets from their last 11 outings shows a new defensive solidity under Eddie Howe, whilst the 6ft 7in Dan Burn is the target of many set pieces. Centre back partner Fabian Schar has more attention right now, due to recent attacking contributions. But only 0.74% of the top 10k currently have Burn.

Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle, £4.9m, owned by 0.3% overall)

Not a regular goal scorer, fellow Magpies new signing Bruno Guimaraes has recently scored against Southampton and notched his first for Brazil in the recent international break. His outstanding performance against Wolves showcased the quality player they have purchased. Just 0.01% of the top 10k possess him but he’s a completely off-the-radar option with technical brilliance.

Mohamed Elyounoussi (Southampton, £5.4m, owned by 0.2% overall)

As James Ward-Prowse is slightly over the 5% overall ownership boundary, eyes turn to the four goals and two assists of his Saints team mate Mohamed Elyounoussi. One of each has arrived over the past few matches, coming with a low price that can enable other FPL transfers. Southampton face Arsenal (H) and Burnley (a) in Double Gameweek 33, with the Norwegian in 0.06% of top 10k sides.
