Community Team Reveal Gameweek 21 – Toby Bryant

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 21, it’s the turn of Toby Bryant to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Toby and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 20 go?

Despite how things started, it ended up being a pretty good week for me. I don’t currently own Cole Palmer and all of my mini-league rivals seemed to buy him in time for his 18-point haul, which was infuriating to watch. I went for Eberechi Eze instead, who himself did the business with nine points.

Goals from Bukayo Saka, Alexander Isak and Elijah Adebayo, plus Ollie Watkins’ two assists made up some ground. I thankfully got the Mohamed Salah captaincy call right too, so I finished on 81 points and a green arrow.

What does your defence look like?

Going into Gameweek 21, I am one of many managers who now face a decision on Trent Alexander-Arnold. It’s a lot of money to have as deadweight for potentially two matches but, with Salah and Son Heung-min to sell, I’m not feeling strapped for cash.

For that reason, I think I’ll hold Trent for now and keep him benched. I’m happy enough with Pedro Porro and Gabriel this week – they’ll start. Tino Livramento will wait for the Newcastle fixture swing, so Issa Kabore is the one I think will get the chop this week. I like the look of Alfie Doughty but Pervis Estupinan will be the replacement.

Additionally, I’ve got to choose between Emiliano Martinez and Matt Turner in goal. It’s a hard one this week but I’m leaning towards Turner, knowing that Brentford have been struggling of late. Then again, it seems inevitable that Ivan Toney will score on his return.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

I’m happy I moved for Eze early. All the good Crystal Palace things go through him and, even away at Arsenal, he could be in for points. I’m losing patience with Bukayo Saka but there’s no need to be moving him on before this clash.

Scott McTominay is good bench fodder and grabs a random haul from time to time, it’s the big hitters Salah and Son who need dealing with this week. Forwards Isak, Watkins and Adebayo will likely stay for Gameweek 21. The Magpies’ man is in great form, Watkins is an easy long-term hold and Adebayo is suddenly putting in some big performances for Luton.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 21 and beyond?

Estupinan will come in for Kabore. I’ve got two free transfers and £3.4m in the bank before I even downgrade Son and Salah, so that’s easy. I won’t get burned by Palmer again because he’ll take up one of those two midfield vacancies.

The other slot is a bit up in the air but I’m leaning towards Diogo Jota. That would give enough cash in the bank to bring Erling Haaland for Adebayo when fit – either this week for another hit, or the following week.

Finally, what about captaincy?

It’s very tough to pick one this week! With little to separate the candidates, I’ll likely go for someone playing at home. Perhaps either Saka or Isak – right now, I’d probably punt on the Swede.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
