Community Team Reveal Gameweek 12 – FPL ElStatto

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 12, it’s the turn of FPL ElStatto to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi ElStatto and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 11 go?

The less said about those 27 points, the better.

What does your defence look like?

Forgetting the freak week and moving onto Gameweek 12’s defence, Alphonse Areola has been in rotation with Matt Turner for most of this season. With the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper looking like he’s now lost his place, I’ll be relying on Areola going forward.

There hasn’t been a standout stopper so far, with 10 points separating the best seven. I’m happy to go with a cheap second option until at least the second Wildcard and West Ham do have an easier run coming up, so hopefully some clean sheets can start being picked up along the way.

It looks like Matty Cash has recovered from his knock and my dilemma this week is who to bench from him, Joachim Andersen and Kostas Tsimikas. Obviously, Kieran Trippier is a no-brainer to start but the other trio all have nice-looking home games. I’ve decided on Tsimikas as I think Brentford are the more likely opponent to score and he offers a lesser attacking threat. Andersen is second only to Trippier for bonus points amongst defenders, meaning a Crystal Palace clean sheet should mean more points for him.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

I’ve come into the week with two free transfers and plenty of flagged players. My plans may change depending on late team news but, as it stands, I’m using my transfers in midfield.

Up front, I take responsibility for breaking Ollie Watkins as he hasn’t returned since I bought him. Although his xG numbers have been okay and hint that the goals will be back this week. Erling Haaland is a season-keeper and can score against any team, whenever he is fit he’ll be in my team.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 12 and beyond?

This has been my issue all week, I’ve decided to use both transfers, with James Ward-Prowse out for Kaoru Mitoma and James Maddison replaced by Jarrod Bowen. Although Bukayo Saka could be departing instead of Maddo (or alongside him if both are injured).

Bowen has a good run of fixtures and is in good form for West Ham – albeit usually away from home. Mitoma is a slight risk, as he’s been playing in a different position during Pervis Estupinan’s injury. As it sounds like the latter might be about to return, Mitoma should be back in his more favoured position. Let’s get ahead of the crowd and buy him this week.

Then again, I think he’ll become Cole Palmer in a few week’s time in order to allow me back to either Maddison or Son Heung-min but Chelsea’s immediate fixtures aren’t great.

Finally, what about captaincy?

I’m going to go for Mohamed Salah against Brentford at home. I think Chelsea will give Man City a trickier game and, while I expect the champions to win, I doubt it’ll be by many goals.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
