Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 6 expert picks and team

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we take a look at Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 6 expert picks and team thoughts. @FPLGunnersaurus (Jay) joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead whilst also sharing his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making decisions within our teams. Checking out the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 6 expert picks and team can help hugely for the round ahead.

Defenders – Jeremie Frimpong (15.2m / 51% TSB / B04)

The number one stand out candidate for star defender this matchday is none other than Leverkusen’s flying Dutchman Frimpong. Frimpong is already demonstrating how essential he is with four double-digit fantasy scores in his five games so far.

His biggest haul so far has been his 23 points return in MD3 which included a couple of assists, but experienced fantasy managers will know he can go even better. With four attacking returns so far you’d have to fancy a haul away to a struggling Mainz side. If you’re one of the 49% who don’t currently own him, make him a priority transfer.

Pascal Stenzel (4m ON SALE / 14% TSB / VFB)

In absence of the injured Vagnoman, Stenzel has been a revelation for Stuttgart and a more than able replacement at right-back. This was evidenced once again in Stuttgart’s 3-1 home win over Darmstadt, where he picked up his third assist of the season and 18 points – the second highest return for a defender on MD5.

With an away trip to a woeful Köln and based on Stuttgart’s sensational form this looks, on paper, to be a one-sided affair. With a small price discount being on sale, down from 4.4m to 4m, managers should pick up a small chunk of change when eventually selling Stenzel.

Mitchell Weiser (10.8m / 17% TSB / SVW)

For the third week running Weiser makes it into my weekly recommendations, mainly because of a lack of top defensive picks available on MD6 as well as Bremen’s fixture which is an away trip to Darmstadt. We’ll speak about how poor Darmstadt have been later on with another Bremen pick but with the focus on Weiser, anyone who has watched any of Bremen lately will see that Weiser is finding himself in the opposition’s 18 yd box an awful lot. Still as well their creator in chief Weiser’s routes to fantasy points can come from all avenues.

Midfielders – Kevin Stöger (8.9m / 9% TSB / BOC)

Stöger, by far, has been Bochum’s brightest light and if it wasn’t for him they may not have any points at all this season. In the three games they’ve drawn Stöger has amassed 46 points, returning two goals and an assist. Of those 46 points, nearly half have come solely from goal attempts. Bochum, surprisingly perhaps, have an 2.06xG at home which is the fourth best in the league.

Meanwhile, Gladbach sit fourth worst overall for expect goals against with a 1.85xGA. The stats point towards a first win of the season for Die Unabsteigbaren and should that come to fruition, we could see a show stealing performance from Stöger.

Jan-Niklas Beste (7.9m / 9% TSB / HDH)

The German youth international has carried on his Zweite Bundesliga form into Heidenheim’s debut Bundesliga season. With two goals and three assists so far in his four games Beste, and pardon the pun, is simply the best budget midfielder available.

Beste has performed particularly well when on home turf, racking up 37 points in two games. The Bundesliga debutants host Union Berlin on MD6 who find themselves in a slump having lost three in a row. Heidenheim winning here would certainly be an upset, but wouldn’t necessarily be a shock.Vincenzo Grifo (15.7m / 8% TSB / SCF)

Vincenzo Grifo (15.7m / 8% TSB / SCF)

Grifo would say himself that by his standards this season his performances haven’t been up to scratch. The stand-in captain is yet to score in the Bundesliga season, something he managed to do 15 times last season. It’s surely only a matter of time before he finds form this season and a home game against Augsburg beckons on MD6.

On paper it’s probably their ‘easiest’ fixture of the season, and Augsburg haven’t been great on the road conceding three times in each of their two away games. Playing in the last game of the matchday, Grifo could be your saving grace.

Forwards – Serhou Guirassy (13.8m / 39% TSB / VFB)

Where do I begin with Guirassy? The Stuttgart forward has exploded this season with 10 goals in just five games, joining Bayern legend Lewandowski as only the second player to reach that tally in as many games. Guirassy is also the first player this season to break the 100 points barrier in #BLFantasy, 10 points ahead of second place.

Stuttgart travel to Köln on Saturday afternoon, who I only said last week looked deflated. What proceeded then on MD5 was a fourth defeat of the season at Bremen. It’s between the next pick and Guirassy for the star man choice on MD6.

Victor Boniface (13.7m / 52% TSB / B04)

The recently capped Nigerian forward has exploded onto the Bundesliga scene this season and is a key reason why Alonso’s Leverkusen only sit second on goal difference. Despite scoring four less goals than Guirassy, Boniface has only scored 10 points less overall in #BLFantasy. This is because Boniface has racked up more points for goal attempts.

Whilst this may show that Guirassy has been more clinical, #BLFantasy managers still benefit every time Boniface has fires one off. For Leverkusen, who have a 2.04xG away, a trip to winless and second bottom Mainz should be no problem for Die Werkself.

Marvin Ducksch (11.3m / 1% TSB / SWV)

If you’re looking to try and take on the template front line of Kane, Boniface and Guirassy then Bremen’s Ducksch might tick the box this coming matchday. With the loss of Füllkrug in the summer Ducksch is going to have to at least match but preferably surpass his 12 goals from last season.

With three attacking returns in his last three games (two goals and one assist) Ducksch has some form coming into an away trip against bottom club Darmstadt, who themselves boast two unwanted records of having conceded a league worst 16 goals and having a league worst 2.02xGA overall.
