With a new round ahead, we take a look at Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 13 expert picks and team reveal. @FPLGunnersaurus joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead whilst also sharing his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.
Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making decisions within our teams. Checking out the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 13 expert picks and team reveal can help hugely for the round ahead.
Top Picks – Defenders – Noussair Mazraoui (12.8m / 19% TSB / FCB)
The Moroccan missed the midweek UCL draw against Copenhagen through illness. However, Bayern boss Tuchel has said he hopes he will be back on Saturday for their home game against Union Berlin. Mazraoui put in a stellar display on MD12. There he picked up 14 points against Köln, that being without any attacking returns.
Keep an eye on the press conferences this week just in case his illness gets worse. In which case turn to Bayern’s roadrunner Alphonso Davies.
Benjamin Henrichs (12.5m / 20% TSB / RBL)
Henrichs was fully rested in their midweek UCL away loss to holders Manchester City. This, by the law of probability means he should start at home to Heidenheim this weekend. Behind Leverkusen’s duo of Grimaldo and Frimpong it is Henrichs who has picked up the third highest points by a defender.
Against a Heidenheim team who have lost five in six on the road this season, chances are we will see a nice fantasy return for the German international on MD13.
Maximilian Mittelstädt (6.4m / 0% TSB / VFB)
With his Japanese teammate Hiroki Ito out for a few games Mittelstädt will have a role on the left hand side locked down. His recent performances have merited it too. In his last two games he has picked up 21 points. That includes a 14 points double-digit fantasy return on MD12. There he picked up an assist in a 2-1 away win over Frankfurt.
Stuttgart host Werder Bremen who are winless on the road this season. Mittelstädt if playing on the left wing will have plenty of opportunities for attacking returns here.
Midfielders – Tim Skarke (4.3m ON-SALE / 9% TSB / SVD)
If you fancy a punt on someone in the Friday night fixture, an on-sale Tim Starke presents an early opportunity to get ahead of your rivals. Managers can pick him up with a 0.5m saving on MD13. You can then sell him for the next matchday for a guaranteed profit.
Darmstadt fare slightly better at home and host a rock-bottom Köln side. Skarke plays out of position as a forward which in fantasy terms means he returns more for any goals and assists. He has three double-digit fantasy returns to his name so far at home and could add one more under the Friday night lights.
Christoph Baumgartner (14m / 0% TSB / RBL)
This pick was going to Xavi Simons until he was taken off injured late in Leipzig’s midweek UCL game. With Simons possibly out (Leipzig has confirmed there is no high-grade injury and he will be back soon) someone is going to need to step up in the Leipzig midfield and become their creator-in-chief against Heidenheim.
That duty should fall to their Austrian playmaker Baumgartner. A stop-start season so far has prevented him from hitting the heights he was used to performing at when at Hoffenheim. However, against Heidenheim there are hardly any better games where he can remind managers just how good he really is.
Chris Führich (10.9m / 30% TSB / VFB)
Here is a second Stuttgart pick and rightly so given their upcoming home game against Bremen. Führich fires at home and has returned double-digit fantasy scores in all but the one game at the MHPArena. His form has dropped off a little as of late. However, who can forget his blistering start to the season which saw him return 18 points apiece in back to back home games.
With Guirassy likely coming back into the fold, and more on that later, managers might start flocking back to an early Bundesliga Fantasy favourite.
Forwards – Serhou Guirassy (14.3m / 30% TSB / VFB)
The Guinean goal machine was shockingly benched last matchday, albeit it did not matter as Stuttgart beat Frankfurt away from home. Most sources however are predicting him to start this weekend in a home game versus Bremen.
Going by those sources Guirassy is near enough essential for MD13. His home displays this season reads as follows – 20 points, 18 points, 28 points, 24 points and six points. Do you really want to be missing out on a potential explosive haul? At 30% owned managers are still in the process of picking him back up, so get him in now!
Loïs Openda (16.3m / 12% TSB / RBL)
Slightly pricey for my third striker slot alongside Kane and Sané but justifiably so, the Belgian has certainly found his shooting boots. With a brace in the UCL in midweek Openda has scored 13 goals so far, nine of which have come in the Bundesliga.
He has scored in all bar one home game this season and against a Heidenheim team who has the third worst away expected goals against record of 1.94xGA you would expect him to find the back of the next again. It is a real close call between Guirassy and Openda for me, one that could go down to the wire.
Leroy Sané (18m / 42% TSB / FCB)
With a home game versus Union Berlin a Bayern striker had to feature. Harry Kane is the obvious pick but I was surprised to see that Sané was only 42% owned given that he is the second best forward in the game. His efforts at home have been ridiculous as of late with 64 points across his last three games at the Allianz Arena.
That is an outstanding recent average of over 20ppg! Kane and Sané are the dream team this season so there is no reason to break them apart in your fantasy team just yet. It is not too late to make that dream team part of your fantasy squad either.
