Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 10 Expert Picks and Team

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we take a look at Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 10 expert picks and team thoughts. @FPLGunnersaurus joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead whilst also sharing his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making decisions within our teams. Checking out the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 10 expert picks and team reveal can help hugely for the round ahead.

Top picks – Defenders – Joakim Maehle (8m / 4% TSB / WOB)

In my mind Maehle is the best budget defender available this week. Managers who have played other fantasy games will know what heights the Dane can reach, and although he hasn’t hit those same heights yet he has shown some glimpses.

His display, including scoring the winner, in the MD4 win over Union Berlin returned 17 points in #BLFantasy. These are the types of returns many expected of him after he moved to the Bundesliga. May we see another haul this weekend at home against Bremen?

Robin Gosens (11.5m / 11% TSB / FCU)

Recommending someone from a side with a seven league game losing streak is either pure genius or sheer madness. Union Berlin’s horrific run has to come to an end at some point and although beating Frankfurt is a hard ask, Union have overcome harder challenges.

If you’re looking at anyone from that fixture then Gosens is probably your go to guy. He only featured for 10 minutes off the bench in Union’s DFB Pokal defeat so he should start. As a defender in the game but almost as a winger on the pitch, Gosens has already scored four times and we love nothing better in the fantasy game than a defender who scores lots of goals.

Mohamed Simakan (8.7m / 17% TSB / RBL)

Marco Rose may shuffle the Leipzig back line away to Mainz after their midweek cup exit. The likes of Raum and Henrichs played the entire game, which may lead to possible starts for Klostermann and Lenz. After only appearing from the bench however Simakan should be a starter if you’re looking to play it safe.

The Frenchman is versatile and can play at right back too, so it’s not out of the question he could deputise for Henrichs either. He has been bringing in a steady stream of points too, hitting 10 points on three separate occasions so far.

Midfielders – Vincenzo Grifo (16.4m / 7% TSB / SCF)

66 points of Grifo’s total 83 points have come at home this season. The Italian is averaging 16.5 points per game at the Europa-Park Stadion and should be an absolute shoe-in when it comes to fantasy squads for MD10.

The Black Forest club host Borussia Mönchengladbach who themselves have conceded 11 times in their four away games so far. With a great home fixture Grifo is probably the standout candidate for the star midfielder role this coming matchday.

Kevin Stöger (9.8m / 13% TSB / BOC)

Many managers were one step ahead of me and picked up the Austrian for MD9 and were rewarded as Stöger scored and assisted returning a 17 points fantasy haul. That was Stöger’s fifth double-digit fantasy return so far which is impressive given Die Unabsteigbaren are winless still this season.

Bochum travel to a demoralised Darmstadt side in the opening fixture of MD10, who have now conceded a league worst 30 goals after their 8-0 one half thumping at the hands of Bayern.

Florian Kainz (11.4m / 2% TSB / KOE)

If you’re looking for a one matchday punt why not look at Köln club captain Kainz. Köln picked up their first win of the season last time out at home with a 3-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach and Kainz went big with two converted penalties in a fantasy haul of 19 points.

Augsburg will be stiff opposition after winning their last two games but what could bode well for Kainz is that they’ve conceded the second most penalties in the league so far. Again, this would be a one matchday punt only but it is one that could pay off very well for those who dare go there.

Forwards – Loïs Openda (15.6m / 15% TSB / RBL)

It’s fair to say that Openda has now firmly settled into life in the Bundesliga and at Leipzig. Following his brace in MD8 against Darmstadt the Belgian repeated the feat with another brace in Leipzig’s 6-0 romp over Köln.

Openda has now returned 36 points in his last two games and away on MD10 to rock-bottom and winless Mainz it would be to the surprise of nobody if he notches another brace or potentially goes one better. Openda did play 86 minutes in midweek, so it’s possible he starts from the bench. Keep your eyes on the press conferences for team news.

Jonas Wind (12.1m / 11% TSB / WOB)

Wind is one of the in-form Bundesliga strikers this season and scored his eighth goal of the season despite a MD9 loss against Augsburg. At home the Dane has scored five times and has three double-digit fantasy returns to his name.

The Wolves also host a Werder Bremen side who have lost all four of their away ties so far. Wind will be slightly rested too, having only appeared off the bench in their midweek DFB Pokal win over Leipzig.

Victor Boniface (14.7m / 69% TSB / B04)

Boniface has blanked in his last two games. However, against a Hoffenheim defence who have leaked seven goals in their last three games one would expect the Nigerian to find the back of the net again. Despite his small dry spell, Boniface is still third in the overall #BLFantasy scoring charts. He is also still racking up points for goal attempts every game.

Boniface also benefits from receiving a full midweek break, having been an unused substitute in Leverkusen’s 5-2 DFB Pokal drubbing over Sandhausen.
