Best players for the Gameweek 26 wildcard
We look at some of the best players for the Gameweek 26 wildcard. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we utilise their underlying stats and fixture ticker to pick out some of the best assets for the weeks ahead.
With blank and double Gameweeks approaching thick and fast it can be difficult for managers to pick out some of the best players for the Gameweek 26 wildcard. Finding the best picks will make it easier to navigate the next several weeks in FPL.
Kieran Trippier
Newcastle have a tough fixture against Manchester City next but what is important to remember is that they have a fixture in blank Gameweek 28 and face a double Gameweek in Gameweek 29. This means one of their assets can be played all of the way through the next period.
Amongst all teams in the league this season they rank the best for goals conceded (15) and the best for clean sheets kept (12). This means the Newcastle defence is worth investing in. The standout option in their defence is Kieran Trippier (£6m). Amongst defenders he ranks first for crosses (234), first for successful crosses (92), first for chances created (70) and first for big chances created (18).
Erling Haaland
Manchester City have a blank Gameweek in 28 but it is worth considering some of the teams they face ahead are conceding some of the worst defensive stats in the league as of late. Amongst all team this season Manchester City rank first for goals (64), first for goals in the box (39), first for attempts on goal (419) and first for big chances created (92).
Main man and striker Erling Haaland (£12.2m) sits as the highest owned and highest scoring player in the game this season. Scoring a huge 27 goals and creating four assists this season, Haaland has big potential going into any given game.
Pervis Estupiñán
Brighton blank in Gameweek 28 but they also have two double Gameweek’s scheduled over the next several weeks. Investing in Brighton will be absolutely key on the wildcard. Amongst all teams in the last six matches they rank second best for shots conceded in the box (30), the best for shots conceded (38), the best for shots on target (nine) and joint second best for big chances conceded (five).
Because of their underlying stats and fixtures it could be wise to invest in their defence. One of the most promising ways into the defence could be Pervis Estupiñán (£4.7m). The full-back has been fantastic this season. In his last seven matches he has managed to rack up an impressive five assists. With good opportunities for the clean sheet and bags of attacking potential, Pervis Estupiñán could be a great addition.
Ollie Watkins
We are yet to see a 0-0 draw from the new Aston Villa manager. This suggests we could see plenty of goals in their matches. Not only do they have a fixture in Gameweek 28 but they also have a very favourable double Gameweek.
Aston Villa are in great scoring form, netting two goals in four of their last five matches. The standout option within the frontline is without a doubt Ollie Watkins (£7.3m). The striker and penalty taker has brilliantly managed returns in his last five matches, including one double-digit haul.
Marcus Rashford
Manchester United face Liverpool in the next round who are one of the worst teams in the league for big chances conceded. They then go onto play a struggling Southampton. The Reds then blank but immediately after have a double Gameweek.
It could be very difficult to leave out Marcus Rashford (£7.2m). No player in the league has scored more goals in the last six matches than him (seven). In the same period he also ranks second for attempts on goal (26), third for shots in the box (20) and third for big chances total (eight).
Solly March
Brighton’s fixtures are very appealing and as well as backing their defence, looking at their attack could be even more beneficial. In the last six matches they rank amongst the best five teams in the league for attempts on goal (87), shots in the box (60), big chances total (21) and shots on target (32).
Putting up some of the best offensive stats in the league indicates managers should make a move on their attack. The standout option could well be Solly March (£5.1m). The midfielder has been in fantastic form, picking up three double digit hauls in his last six matches. Showing explosiveness in FPL and topping his teammates for non penalty expected goal involvement makes him one of the best players for the Gameweek 26 wildcard.
Bukayo Saka
Arsenal do not have any double Gameweeks scheduled but they do not blank in Gameweek 28. In addition, they face some of the worst defences in the league in the next few rounds. In their last six matches amongst all teams Arsenal rank second best for goals (16), first for attempts on goal (132) and first for shots in the box (91).
Penalty taker and main man Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) could be the most obvious move in attack. The midfielder has been in top form banking four returns in his last six matches. In the same time he ranks first for attempts on goal (29) and second for shots in the box (22). Considering form and fixtures, Bukayo Saka can be considered as one of the best players for the Gameweek 26 wildcard.
