STRONG FIXTURE

MAN UNITED

It’s difficult to know whether to react to Man United’s lacklustre home cup defeat to Middlesbrough or their promising Double Gameweek at Old Trafford. A lack of clean sheets doesn’t offer defensive encouragement, whilst Cristiano Ronaldo is out-of-form. This double is against two sides who Bruno Fernandes has excelled against. His seven league matches against Southampton and Brighton have delivered five goals, six assists and 65 points.

MAN CITY

Although Norwich are resurgent under Dean Smith, the champions will expect to win at Carrow Road. Southampton ended their streak of 12 consecutive league wins but the winter break will refresh the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Joao Cancelo as they look to build a lead big enough so that they can switch focus to the Champions League.

LIVERPOOL

While there are doubts as to the availability of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for Liverpool’s midweek game against Leicester, they are surely back into Jurgen Klopp’s line-up at Turf Moor after a few weeks away at the African Cup of Nations. Burnley are actually one of only three sides Salah has blanked against this season and they have kept clean sheets in their last two matches, although they also failed to score. Therefore, those who have both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson may feel confident of a big return here. The many owners of Diogo Jota will be nervous to see if he starts or whether it’s time to rotate, now that Roberto Firmino is back and Luis Diaz is being integrated into the team.
