Best £5.5m Midfielders in FPL 2025/26

Finding the Best £5.5m Midfielders in FPL 2025/26 can be the difference between a balanced squad and a budget headache. These low-priced players are crucial enablers, offering potential returns without eating into your premium funds.

In this article, we highlight the standout £5.5m options based on fixtures, form, and underlying stats – perfect for completing your Gameweek 1 draft.

Elliot Anderson

Best £5.5m Midfielders in FPL 2025/26

Nottingham Forest have an interesting start to the season in terms of schedule. Whilst Nuno Santos’ men come up against the likes of Arsenal in Gameweek 4 and Newcastle in Gameweek 7, they also clash with considerably weaker sides including: Brentford, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Burnley and Sunderland in their first six matches.

Whilst they have multiple options to choose from, in both defence and attack, one player who has potential in both areas of the pitch is Elliot Anderson. Anderson ranked among the top three midfielders in the league last season for defensive contributions. But, he also offers attacking threat – taking some set pieces and racking up two goals and six assists during the previous campaign.

Tijjani Reijnders

Best £5.5m Midfielders in FPL 2025/26

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back this season after an underwhelming 2024/25 campaign. Pep Guardiola has made some key signings during the summer with this in mind. One of them is former AC Milan maestro Tijjani Reijnders.

Playing for one of the best sides in the league provokes immediate appeal. But taking a look at his data, the Dutchman offers plenty of offensive potential. From his central midfielder position, Reijnders bagged an impressive 10 goals and four assists. He also started three of Manchester City’ four Club World Cup matches, which suggests he’s had gametime to settle in.

Simon Adingra

Edging Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final pushed Sunderland back into the top tier after an eight-year hiatus. FPL managers should always be cautious of promoted sides. But, with starting fixtures against West Ham, Burnley, Brentford, and Crystal Palace, we could well see their assets perform.

The Black Cats have several potentially good value assets to choose from, but one that is Premier League proven is Simon Adingra. The former Brighton winger could make a serious impact if given maintained gametime. He also heads into the season after scoring in his most recent pre-season friendly.

Harry Wilson

Best £5.5m Midfielders in FPL 2025/26

Fulham appear to have gone under the radar ahead of the new season with the FPL community. That comes as no surprise due to their mediocre 2024/25 campaign and their mixed starting fixtures. But, with two out of three wins in pre-season thus far, against Nottingham Forest and Al-Ittihad, they could start the upcoming season well.

Impressing during pre-season is Welshman Harry Wilson – netting three goals in the two matches mentioned above. His form outside of those matches hasn’t exactly been scarce either. In fact, as well scoring in his sides penultimate match of the previous season, he bagged two goals and one assist in his last two outings for country.

Who else should we consider?

Aston Villa’ starting fixtures against Newcastle, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton and Sunderland make them extremely appealing. Starting the last two pre-season friendlies was Donyell Malen who could be one of the cheapest routes into the attack this season.

No midfielder in the league produced more defensive contributions than Moises Caicedo last season. This could mean he regularly hits the +2 point bonus. Chelsea have a fantastic early schedule too which could help the Ecuadorian to success.

After a series of impressive performances in the Club World Cup, Wolves signed Jhon Arias. The former Fluminense talisman and set-piece taker caught most football fans eyes watching on, and he could well make an immediate impact for his new side.
