Marc Jobling: Gameweek 7 Team Reveal

Last modified date

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 7, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. How did Gameweek 6 go?

Oh it was horrific, like for many Wildcard users. The squad looks great, in theory, it’s good for this upcoming weekend. But FPL isn’t about logic, it’s about luck.

38 points undid the huge rise of Gameweek 5, thanks to not having Cole Palmer, Mohamed Salah and Ollie Watkins. What’s worse is that my pre-Wildcard squad contained the hauls of Watkins (11), Salah (10), van de Ven (11). The Harwood-Bellis (7) goal too!

Down from 951k to 1.86m, I must admit that I’ve lost all desire to continue. And there wasn’t much to begin with, having spent the summer determined not to play FPL anymore.

What does your defence look like?

I was very pleased with the David Raya news because I believe a double Arsenal defence is the long-term answer. Of course, they immediately conceded twice at home to Leicester full-back James Justin.

Trent Alexander-Arnold could be sacrificed for money at some point but he has the benefit of being fixture-proof, whilst the Rico Lewis risk is managed by surrounding him with nailed-on starters.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

Another mistake was not starting Dominic Solanke for his Old Trafford goal. I’m not repeating that, considering Spurs’ attacking qualities and the way Brighton defended at Chelsea.

It’ll mean sidelining Morgan Rogers unless pre-deadline leaks reveal a Luis Diaz lunchtime benching. But I like having such depth because it means a transfer can still be rolled if one injury pops up.

Elsewhere, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is frustrating to own but, as a Newcastle fan, I can see him scoring past us. Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo were the saviours of Gameweek 6 and they have superb-looking fixtures here.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 7 and beyond?

Unless something comes up in press conferences, I want to roll this transfer. All the early ones were used in emergencies to get rid of injured Solanke, then benched attackers Christopher Nkunku and Rodrigo Muniz.

Saving up at least three would be lovely.

Finally, what about captaincy?

As is typical in FPL, you spend the week going back and forth on Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka, only to have them both blank for the first time this season.

Despite Saka having the better fixture, Haaland is still on 10 goals from 6 matches. Last season’s home clash with Fulham ended with a hat-trick, an assist and 20 points. I think it needs to be him.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
