FPL Gameweek 7 Best Wildcard Team

Last modified date

The seventh round of Fantasy Premier League is approaching so we take a look at the FPL Gameweek 7 best wildcard team. To do this we use the Fantasy Football Scout members area and Plan FPL and their fantastic tools.

Checking out our best Wildcard team each week can be extremely helpful. The Wildcard is one of several chips provided by the game. Wildcard users can make unlimited and permanent changes to their team before the deadline ahead.

Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures for the next six Gameweeks.

Who has the best fixtures?

Everton, Leicester, Manchester City, Brentford and Manchester United all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Brighton, Southampton, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Best Wildcard Team

With the help of the above and Plan FPL we built the best Wildcard for Gameweek 7:

FPL Gameweek 7 Best Wildcard Team

Goalkeepers

Rotating between Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez (£4.6m) and Brentford’s Mark Flekken (£4.5m) could remain a great option long-term. The Chelsea and Brentford schedule mix extremely well together so that most of the time we have a goalkeeper with a favourable fixture.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m) faces mixed fixtures but taking into account the next fixture against Crystal Palace, how good the Liverpool defence has been so far and his distribution data, he goes into the period ahead with lots of potential still.

Manchester City have excellent fixtures long-term and the cheapest route into the defence is Rico Lewis (£4.7m). At such a budget price and with Rodri out injured we could see more of Lewis as the season progresses. Lewis has also been featuring in a midfield position which means he has a better chance of picking up attacking returns.

Arsenal remain one of the best defences in the league, so regardless of fixtures owning one long-term could be a wise play. Their standout defensive option is of course Gabriel (£6.1m) who offers plenty of attacking threat from set pieces, as evident in his recent two goals.

Everton sit top of the fixture ticker and with Jarrad Branthwaite back we could see more stability in defence. The Toffees had the joint second best defence in league last season for clean sheets and we could well see that form again. With that in mind, and his cheap price-tag Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m) enters the fold.

Tottenham may not be one of the most stable teams in the league defensively but their defenders can be extremely attacking. One of those options is flying full-back Pedro Porro (£5.5m) who tops every other defender in the league for total attempts on goal.

Midfielders

Brentford rank near the top of the fixture ticker for the period ahead so it could be difficult to go without Bryan Mbeumo (£7.2m). Mbeumo has been in exceptional form so far – scoring in five goals in his first six matches.

Arsenal have two fantastic fixtures ahead of them from an attacking perspective. For that reason picking their penalty taker and talisman Bukayo Saka (£10m) is a an easy decision. Saka has returned in every single one of his Premier League matches this season, making him one of the most consistent assets in the game.

The lack of midfield options between the £6m-£9m price bracket is a serious concern. On the other hand, there are lots of fantastic cheaper options. All three of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo (£5.6m), Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers (£5.1m) and Fulham’s Emile Smith-Rowe (£5.7m) have been brilliant assets this season. All three have schedules that fit together nicely, allowing us to pick two of the three in any given Gameweek and have a good fixture to attack.

Forwards

Manchester City’s good schedule means that Erling Haaland (£15.3m) is a great captaincy option moving forward. His relentless form means he is one of the most consistent assets in the game which makes his price-tag more justifiable.

Arsenal’s Kai Havertz (£8.2m) gets the nod ahead of Ollie Watkins due to his next two fixtures. Arsenal face two of the worst defences in the league next and Havertz could be another great route into the frontline alongside Saka.

Although frustrating recently Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.9m) remains a great option. The Everton penalty taker seems to be sustaining his fitness levels and with great fixtures ahead he could repay the faith.

The Cole Palmer Draft

After Cole Palmer’s (£10.7m) fantastic display for Chelsea last week some may want to try and fit him in, even with tough fixtures. So, here is one draft you could go with:
