Fantasy EFL Team Reveal for Gameweek 8

Last modified date

In this article we take a look at @FPLEdgeworth‘s Fantasy EFL team reveal for Gameweek 8. Our expert shares his team, rationale around each pick and discusses the two teams he is backing to win for the new round.

Our Fantasy EFL team reveal for Gameweek 8 could be very helpful for fantasy managers. Knowing who our expert picks could be extremely enlightening. It could also bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

Team Reveal

Goalkeeper

Michael Cooper – Sheffield United – Cooper is my first player. Since joining Sheffield United midway through the transfer window, he has played four games and kept three clean sheets. Sheffield United face Portsmouth and Swansea next up, two teams they will be strong favourites against.

Defenders

Max Cleworth – Wrexham – Cleworth secures his place at the back. The Wrexham defender has the second highest amount of points in the whole game this season so far. As well as that he has returned in all but one of his matches and that was against Birmingham. In this double Gameweek Wrexham play Leyton Orient and Stevenage; the table-toppers should win both, and so Cleworth should return well.

Will Aimson – Wigan Athletic – Aimson returns to my team after being one of the stars in GW7 for me. He is another player that has only failed to return in one of his seven games. Wigan, after keeping two clean sheets in GW7, play Exeter and Peterborough at home. Conceding just one goal at home all season suggests this week could be a good chance for Aimson to carry on his impressive start.

Midfielders

Daniel Crowley (VC) – Notts County – Crowley has had an interesting start to the season, only returning in three of the six games he’s played. However, in two of those three games he returned 17 or more points. Notts County play Morecambe and Carlisle, who both sit near the bottom of League Two.

Josh Brownhill (C) – Burnley – Brownhill is my captain this week. He has had a very good start to the season, sitting as the highest scoring midfielder from the Championship and League One. Amongst his points lays three double-digit returns. The lowest amount of points he has picked up during a round is four, so even in his worst week he is picking up a solid amount of points. Oxford and Plymouth are good fixtures, so Brownhill could do very well.

Forwards

Jodi Jones – Notts County – Jones is my second Notts County player after returning in four of his 6 matches. Jones currently sits as the highest scoring forward from League One and League Two. His side also have two of the best fixtures out of any team this week with Morecambe and Carlisle, he’s a must own for me.

Duncan Watmore – Millwall – Watmore is my final player, and similar to Jones, has four returns in the six games he has played. Watmore has four more points than Jones and is the second highest scoring forward in the game. Millwall play Preston and Cardiff this week, two teams in the bottom four of the Championship.

Teams to Target

Notts County – Notts County are my first team. Interestingly it’s the first team that I have selected twice. Honestly, in a perfect world I wouldn’t have used them twice so early in the season. But, this particular week where they have better fixtures than any other side (Morecambe and Carlisle), I think it is worth it. Both matches are also away from home so I could pick up extra points if they are successful.

Wrexham – Wrexham, on the other hand, are a side I haven’t used yet. They too have one of the best set of fixtures with Leyton Orient and Stevenage ahead. For readers who have already used Wrexham and Notts County once, I would pick just one of them this week and try to find an alternative team you haven’t used yet. Like Wrexham Notts County have also got two away matches this week which could mean extra points if they win.
