Notes

  • I finally have enough funds to realistically run two goalkeepers this week. With Atlanta missing a ton of key players to international duty this week, I think Luka Gavran and Toronto have a decent chance of a shutout. Daniel is my backup should Gavran fail to keep a clean sheet. San Jose haven’t looked amazing defensively. But, they have a home matchup against a Seattle side that have only scored two goals so far this season, both of which have been penalties.
  • In defence, I have paired Gavran and Daniel with Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty and Vitor Costa, respectively. Marshall-Rutty will be a bench play but has excellent offensive numbers so far this season. My other bench defender is Kyle Smith. He only costs $4.0m and may line up in midfield. Costa will likely be the first player to make way should either of my bench defenders score well. My other starting defenders are Sergi Palencia and DeAndre Yedlin. Cincinnati have some of the best clean sheet odds this week and I feel it’s worth paying extra for the more offensively minded Yedlin over Kipp Keller. Palencia is a cheap route into the LAFC defence, who should do well against a Nashville side that have been struggling in front of goal so far this season.
  • In midfield, Lucho Acosta and Riqui Puig were the first two names in my team by virtue of their bonus point production, with Acosta vying with Cucho Hernández for the captaincy. Carles Gil is also a lock in my team. Despite New England’s indifferent form so far this season, I expect them and Gil, in particular, to do well at home to Chicago. My other two midfielders are Joseph Paintsil and Evander. LA Galaxy look anything but comfortable defensively. But, they do look strong going forward. Paintsil has already recorded two goals and one assist in his first four MLS appearances. Evander racked up five bonus points last week. He has a favourable home matchup against a depleted Philadelphia team.
  • Upfront, Cucho is a no-brainer based on his and Columbus’ current form. Dejan Joveljic also makes my team as I’m keen to tap into the LA Galaxy attack as much as possible. My final forward spot is up for grabs. I’ve currently opted for Luis Muriel, who faces an Austin side with some of the worst defensive numbers in the league. However, the likes of Luis Suárez (if he starts), Alan Pulido and Denis Bouanga are also in my thoughts. I also have money in the bank for upgrades if needed.

  • Cincinnati’s backline is incredibly expensive. However, they have the best CS chance by far this weekend. That is why I’ve decided to commit the funds to Celentano and Keller.
  • NYC has also been a mess defensively so I’ve put the captain armband on Lucho for this week. Austin have continued to be awful defensively this season.
  • Both Martin Ojeda and Muriel should get plenty of chances to score not only goals but collect a ton of KPs.
  • At this point, you have to have Cucho in your team, he’s far too consistent not to.
  • Even though New England have struggled at times, both Gil and Chancalay should be dangerous against Chicago. This is because they have given up the third most xG’s per 90 so far this season.
  • San Jose probably has the best CS chances in the later stretch of games. I’m hoping Cincy keeps their CS and I can scrub Daniel, but they are a decent fall back option if I need to use him and Rodrigues.
  • Philadelphia are missing a ton of players for international duty and is traveling to Portland which is always a tough place to play. Evander is a fairly popular pick this week and I have Mosquera for potential attacking returns as well as as decent CS shout. Something about this game isn’t sitting right for me, though, so I’m hoping my bench hits and I can avoid it.
  • My bench flier this week is Cole Bassett. Houston have looked vulnerable recently and Colorado’s home field/altitude advantage should give them plenty of looks. Cole Bassett has been their main guy, leading the team in Shot Creation Actions and npxG+xA among starers.

Notes

  • I got 65 points with 27 coming from Captain Giorgios and Wiley and a small move up to 1469 overall last week. A very expensive midfield did nothing with Gil, Almada, Puig and Forsberg bringing 14.
  • I like Toronto at home this week to a depleted ATL squad from Int’l Duty.
  • I might switch captain to Insigne.
  • I need to get an early look at the line-up for Inter Miami with Suarez and Taylor.
  • I like Cincy vs NYC.
  • Hoping CLTFC have some surprises finally back at home with the lowest xGC in the league.

Notes

  • MID; Evander (POR:9M); Evander is high for shots in the last couple of games and has a decent matchup vs Nashville.
  • MID: Luciano Acosta (CIN 10.9m); Luciano Acosta is playing at home vs NYC and is a must have with this new points system.
  • MID: Carles Gil (NER; 11m); Gil has returned 29 points in the first four starts this season, he is high in key passes so far this season in MLS. He is nailed in my team this week vs Chicago Fire FC.
  • FOR: Cucho Hernandez (CLB; 11m ); Cucho Hernández came third in the hunt for the Audi Golden Boot last season and he normally launches numerous shots. He is playing vs Charlotte FC and stands out as perhaps the one of league’s most dangerous attacker. He is also my likely cap this round.

  • Once again, I’m looking to go with one GK as I prefer to spend my money elsewhere. I’m currently on Toronto’s Luka Gavran who faces an Atlanta side who’ll be without Almada and GG this week as they’re away on international duty with Argentina and Greece respectively. Daniel is a good value pick at $5.2m and someone I’m looking at should Gavran fail to keep a clean sheet in the early games.
  • In defence, I’ve paired Gavran with Marshall-Rutty. He got on the scoresheet against NYCFC last weekend and I like his chances of attacking returns this week too. Kipp Keller is also in my team with Cincinnati having kept two clean sheets in both of their home games. I’ve also included Whitecaps’ left wingback Ryan Raposo who’s recorded a goal and an assist so far this season. My last defender is Victor Costa who presents good value at $5.2m. He’s facing a Seattle who sits 25th in npxG.
  • Lucho Acosta was an easy lock for me this week. Acosta has a favourable matchup against NYCFC and he’s been picking up bonus points consistently so far. The Argentinian playmaker also showed in the last round that he can haul despite only playing 45 minutes. Carles Gil, Rique Puig and Ryan Gauld were all easy inclusions this week as they have favourable matchups. The two Spaniards have also shown that they can pick up bonus points consistently. The Crew’s Yaw Yeboah is my last midfielder who’s yet to score below five this season. He’s up against a Charlotte side that has struggled for form to start this season with only one win in four.
  • In attack, Cucho is a must have with scores of nine, 10, six and 12 in his first four games. My other two forwards are currently Denis Bouanga and Leonardo Campana. Bouanga might be swapped out for Joveljic should he be away on international duty with Gabon.
