FPL: Top 10 Most Popular Picks for Gameweek 21

The new round is approaching and many within the community have started making early changes to their teams. Because of this we check out the highest owned players in the game and pick out the top 10 most popular picks for Gameweek 21 with the help of the Fantasy Premier League website.

Player ownership has become a massive part of Fantasy Premier League so knowing the top 10 most popular picks for Gameweek 21 can help when it comes to making hard decisions regarding the use of transfers, captaincy and more.

The Top Five

  • Bukayo Saka (59.5%) – Saka sits as the most owned player in the game heading into the new round. Arsenal have a meeting with Crystal Palace this week, a team who have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 matches.
  • Ollie Watkins (54.6%) – The second most popular asset going into Gameweek 21 is Ollie Watkins. He currently sits as the third highest scoring player game. Watkins has great potential this week against an Everton defence that have conceded between 2-3 goals in all of their last three matches.
  • Erling Haaland (53.7%) – The Manchester City striker was the most owned player for some time. However a recent injury has seen his ownership plummet. That may be the case but he has a very good chance of playing against a very poor recent Newcastle defence. We could seen his ownership climb dramatically as we approach the deadline.
  • Mohamed Salah (43.3%) – Mohamed Salah owners have a difficult decision ahead. The Egyptian is heading off to AFCON for at least two Gameweeks so he will not play this week. Because of this FPL managers will have to decide on whether to hold onto him until he returns or replace him.
  • Kieran Trippier (37.9%) – Newcastle have an extremely tough game ahead against Manchester City next up. Not only will that limit Trippier’ potential but he also picked up a groin injury recently so he may not even play.

The Rest of the Top 10

  • William Saliba (36.5%) – Saliba is the second and last defender to make it into the top 10 this week. Arsenal play Crystal Palace this week which on paper is a great game but the Gooners have picked up one clean sheet in their last five matches to the disappointment of many.
  • Son Heung-Min (35.3%) – Similar to Mohamed Salah Son is also joining his national team but to compete in the Asia Cup. The South Korean is also likely to miss out on several weeks of action so will not feature for Tottenham this week. Managers will have to decide whether to keep or sell him.
  • Julian Alvarez (35.1%) – The Manchester City attackers have lots of potential this week against Newcastle. Although Alvarez is key for the Manchester City the return of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland could make him a rotation risk moving forward.
  • Alphonse Areola (34.6%) – The West Ham goalkeeper is the only player in his position to make the top 10 players again. Areola may have disappointed upon investing in him but he has managed an impressive three consecutive clean sheets in his last three games. Areola faces Sheffield United next up so that form could continue.
  • Jarrod Bowen (32.8%) – Sheffield United have one of the worst defences in the division so Bowen could have massive potential this week. The West Ham talisman currently sits as the fifth highest scoring player in the game which is reflective of his consistency this campaign.

We pick out the best midfielders to sign for Gameweek 21 and onwards right here.
