FPL: @FPLReaction’ Top Three Picks for Gameweek 20
With the new round edging closer we bring in Fantasy Football Community and Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FPLReaction’ (Louis) to reel off his top three picks for Gameweek 20.
Here I will give you my top three picks for Gameweek 20 to try and help with that. There are some very obvious options with huge potential for the new round and whilst I will list them, I will also provide you with three different picks who I think could also do well.
The Obvious Options
- Cole Palmer (£5.6m)
- Nicolas Jackson (£6.9m)
- Ollie Watkins (£8.8m)
- Leon Bailey (£5.6m)
- Erling Haaland (£13.9m)
- Julian Alvarez (£6.8m)
- Bukayo Saka (£9m)
- Gabriel Jesus (£8.8m)
- William Saliba (£5.6m)
- Son Heung-Min (£9.9m)
- Pedro Porro (£5.6m)
- Mohamed Salah (£13.4m)
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.4m)
- Jarrod Bowen (£7.9m)
- Mohammed Kudus (6.8m)
Raheem Sterling
Chelsea continue to be unpredictable going into any given game which is frustrating for both fans and FPL managers. They are however still one of the liveliest teams in the league and the fact they sit second best in the league for expected goals in the last six Gameweeks backs that up.
Luton lay ahead next. The Hatters are a much better side at home, which is where they play this week. However, many may be overestimating how good they actually are at home because they still sit as the joint fourth worst side in for goals conceded at home.
Raheem Sterling (£7m) returns this week after serving his one match ban. The Englishman seems to bully promoted sides and we have seen that in the past. In, fact Sterling has already racked up a 19-point return against Luton and a 16-point return against Burnley this season. I think this week could be another good week for Sterling and one that will reward the few owners he has for holding onto him.
Michael Olise
I really worry about both Crystal Palace and Brentford going into the new round and looking ahead. Both have failed to win a game in their last four matches and both seem like they could end up in a relegation scrap. They face-off against each other this week and the importance of the game will no doubt go under the radar to fans.
Crystal Palace really need to win this week and they put up a lot of fight against Chelsea in Gameweek 19. They also clash with a team who have conceded between 2-4 goals in three of their last four matches. Brentford are a team to target moving forward and this man has the potential to sink them even further down the table.
Michel Olise (£5.8m) isn’t just a quality player but he is also a talismanic figure for his side. A good example of that is the fact he created more chances and big chances than any of his teammates last season. In terms of output Olise has managed to return at least once in all of his last three games. Set pieces is also a a huge appeal with the Frenchman. I think Olise has huge potential moving forward and some may even be considering him as their Son or Salah replacements long term. Olise is an exciting addition into my top three picks for Gameweek 20.
Phil Foden
Manchester City have been disappointing this season but we are approaching the business end of the campaign which is a time they seem to turn into a completely dominant side. As disappointing as they have been the champions are still the highest goal scorers in the league which says a lot because they have been without Erling Haaland for a period.
Manchester City have the best game you can have on paper in the Premier League, Sheffield United at home. The Blades may have improved under Chris Wilder but they are still conceding some of the worst defensive data in the league, stats that Manchester City are fully capable of punishing.
There has been a lot of attention around the likes of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this season and rightly so. However, FPL managers have been waiting for a time where Phil Foden (£7.6m) looks nailed in the starting 11 and that time seems to be now. The English midfielder has proved to be vital to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola this season and his output reflects that (five goals and four assists in 18 matches). Manchester City could have a field day against Sheffield United and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Foden was to benefit.
