FPL: @FPLReaction’ Top Three Picks for Gameweek 19
With the new round edging closer we bring in Fantasy Football Community and Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FPLReaction’ (Louis) to reel off his top three picks for Gameweek 19.
Here I will give you my top three picks for Gameweek 19 to try and help with that. There are some very obvious options with huge potential for the new round and whilst I will list them, I will also provide you with three different picks who I think could also do well.
The Obvious Options
- Bukayo Saka (£9m)
- Dominic Solanke (£6.9m)
- Cole Palmer (£5.6m)
- Mohamed Salah (£13.3m)
- Phil Foden (£7.6m)
- Erling Haaland (£13.9m)
- Anthony Gordon (£6.2m)
- Son Heung-Min (£9.8m)
- Pedro Porroo (£5.6m)
- Ollie Watkins (£8.8m)
Pascal Groß
Brighton are that team that we all want to invest in but due to rotation it is just too risky. It’s even more frustrating because they rank as one of the best sides in the league for fixtures in the next six Gameweeks. But, there is one player who seems solid for gametime in the run ahead.
Pascal Groß (£6.4m) has started nine of the last 10 matches for Brighton. His versatility means he can play in numerous positions which almost guarantees him more minutes than his fellow attacking teammates. The German isn’t just starting most matches though, he has also racked up six returns in his last six league games, and he didn’t start one of them.
But Brighton have Tottenham next? Believe me, Tottenham are extremely poor at the back in terms of underlying data. In fact in the last six Gameweeks they rank second worst for expected goals conceded, and second worst for big chances conceded. Everything suggests that Pascal Groß could be a great asset long-term but a very good one for the round ahead.
Nicolas Jackson
I feel like as a Chelsea fan I am constantly recommending Chelsea players, but after checking, it seems to be the same player I am recommending every round, this one. In fact, I still think he is going under the radar due to how much he frustrated managers early in the season.
Chelsea aren’t exactly the most convincing side but you have to back them going up against poor defences, especially when they sit third best overall this season for expected goals. But, Crystal Palace have been extremely poor recently and that is another huge factor. The fact they have kept one clean sheet in their last 10 league matches highlights how bad they have been.
Going back to our pick, Nicolas Jackson (£6.9m) may trigger some FPL managers. Yes he was frustrating to own but that has changed. The Chelsea striker has racked up seven returns in his last 10 league matches, not bad? He also ranks third best overall this season for non-penalty expected goal involvement. Jackson is very lively and takes up some excellent positioning. Some may question his quality but look at his return rate again.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Yes, I think out next pick is going under the radar and you will probably agree. This is because of his price. If he wasn’t so expensive then every man and his dog would have him in their teams, especially this week. Trent Alexander-Arnold comes in at a huge £8.3m.
Looking at his price compared to other popular assets could be interesting. When comparing the output of popular asset Bukayo Saka (£9m) recently, Trent has out scored him in four of the last five matches. In fact, Trent actually sits ninth on the overall points chart. A lot of that is due to his recent form – returning at least once in all of his last seven matches.
Trent’ consistency recently is quite frankly excellent and we have to, eventually, recognise this. There a big chance he continues his brilliant form with a game against newly promoted Burnley next up, a team that rank amongst the worst attacks in the league.
