Gameweek 15 fixtures

Below we can see the fixture ticker – it has ordered the matches in difficulty order. According to the ticker the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.

The fixture ticker can be very useful when trying to pick out a captain but other factors should also be considered.

The options – Bukayo Saka

Arsenal are in great form again recently and sit at the top of the league because of it. When looking at their offensive stats in the last six matches they rank seventh for expected goals, joint third for actual goals, eighth for shots on target and joint fourth for big chances total.

In terms of opposition this week Arsenal have a meeting with Luton. The Hatters are one of few teams yet to keep a clean sheet this season. When looking at their underlying stats in their last six they rank mid-table for goals conceded, the worst for shots in the box conceded, third worst for shots on target conceded and the worst for big chances concceded.

The player who could take advantage of the above is midfielder Bukayo Saka (£9.9m). Saka has been fantastic this campaign – picking up at least one return in all but two of his first 14 matches. When looking at his recent stats he sits outside the top 10 for returns (five), outside the top 10 for non-penalty expected goal involvement and outside the top 10 for big chances total.

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool are in a great run of scoring form which has led them to second in the league. When comparing their frontline they sit fourth for expected goals, joint second for actual goals scored, first for attempts on goal, first for shots on target and joint second best for big chances total in the last six Gameweeks.

Sheffield United lay ahead, a team that dwell rock bottom of the league. Their form can be reflected in their underlying data. In fact in the same period as above they sit as the worst for goals conceded, the worst for third worst for shots in the box conceded, third worst for big chances conceded and second worst for shots on target conceded.

Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) has been brilliant this season. We can see that in the fact he is the highest scoring player in the game currently. With a focus on his stats, in the last six he ranks second best for returns, fourth for non-expected goal involvement, second for goals scored an second for big chances total.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City have been dropping points recently but they are still scoring plenty of goals. When digging into their recent data, in the last six matches they rank the best for goals, second for total attempts, second best for shots in the box, the best for big chances total and second best for shots on target.

Aston Villa lay ahead for Manchester City which could be an interesting game. Results have been kind for Villa and because of it they sit fourth and one point behind Manchester City. In terms of their defence in the last six they rank in the best seven teams for expected and actual goals conceded and around mid-table for other defensive metrics.

The player leading the Manchester City frontline is Erling Haaland (£14m). The Norwegian sits as the second highest scoring player in the game so far this season. Statistically Haaland ranks first for returns (10), first for goals, the best for shots in the box and top for big chances total.

Who is the best captain for Gameweek 15?

Bukayo Saka could be a very good option to own but his recent stats and team stats suggest the other two picks could be much better for captaincy.

Erling Haaland will always be a good captain pick. However he is facing an Aston Villa side with reasonably good defensive data.

Mohamed Salah is the best captain for Gameweek 15. The Egyptian comes up against the worst defence in the league, plays for a side maintaining very good attacking data and is also producing excellent data himself.
