Community Team Reveal Gameweek 11 – BlackWolf
Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.
Ahead of Gameweek 11, it’s the turn of BlackWolf to tell us what he is doing to his team.
Hi BlackWolf and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 10 go?
I’ve had a strong few weeks since playing my Wildcard in Gameweek 7 but have just received my first red arrow since then. I finished on 64 points after a -4 which dropped me from 147k to 203k – luckily just a small red. Moussa Diaby netted me a much-needed 13 points – without those, the drop would’ve been huge!
I did not want to go into Gameweek 10 without Ollie Watkins given his fixture and EO%. So I used two free transfers to downgrade Son Heung-min to Jarrod Bowen, before upgrading Julian Alvarez to Watkins. Unfortunately, the moves didn’t work out as Watkins massively underperformed his xG and came away with a blank, as did Bowen. I stand by my decision, though. Especially since almost £1m in funds was freed up from the moves and my squad is well-set going forward.
The frustrating bit was my last decision after hearing the Destiny Udogie injury news. I took a hit to remove Sven Botman for Gabriel Magalhaes’ almost guaranteed clean sheet versus Sheffield United. Yet Gabriel was benched and autosub Issa Kabore scored zero. But I’m happy to have the Arsenal defender for future Gameweeks as I think he’ll still start most of them.
What does your defence look like?
I currently have Alphonse Areola in goal. A clean sheet isn’t expected, but I hope he can rack up some save points. In front of him are Udogie, Kieran Trippier and Matty Cash, with Gabriel ready to step in if any miss out. Kabore will hopefully stay benched against Liverpool.
I don’t feel great about the defence this week but feel there won’t be many clean sheets across all games. Hopefully, the damage from other highly-owned assets isn’t too bad.
Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?
My midfield currently consists of Diaby, Bowen, Mohamed Salah, James Maddison and Pedro Neto. Unfortunately, Neto picked up an injury right before his plum fixture against Sheffield United therefore I will be forced to use my transfer to take him out, which is very disappointing as he has been both a star for the FPL squad and Wolves, my supported team. Up top, I have Watkins, Erling Haaland and bench fodder Cameron Archer. It’s 3-5-2, with Archer joining Kabore and Gabriel on the sidelines.
So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 11 and beyond?
With funds freed up from selling Son, I have enough to upgrade Neto to any midfielder below £6.8m. I am strongly leaning towards Bryan Mbeumo, who I’m yet to own this season. Although he has two tough fixtures after this week’s, it’s then Luton in Gameweek 14.
Alternatively, I could go for Kaoru Mitoma and swap him for Mbeumo by then but I think I’d like to save that transfer for fixing my defence in the coming weeks.
Finally, what about captaincy?
With Bournemouth at home, Haaland will be my captain this week. Although Salah at Luton is a great option, I slightly favour the Man City forward.
