Notes

  • I’ve loaded up on players from Inter Miami and Charlotte, who are the only teams with a double gameweek in Round 29.
  • In goal, I’ve gone for Kristijan Kahlina. Charlotte stand a good chance of at least one clean sheet against Inter Miami, who I expect will rotate now that they are officially out of playoff contention.
  • My fallback goalkeeper will be Roman Bürki, with St Louis the best of a bad bunch among the late games for clean sheet prospect.
  • In defence, I have paired Bürki with Tim Parker and Kahlina with Adilson Malanda, who made the Round 28 Dream Team with 20 points. I have also taken Tomás Avilés as a bench play on the off-chance Inter Miami manage to shut out Charlotte in one of their two games.
  • My other defenders are Álvaro Barreal and Thiago Martins. Barreal has been one of the most consistent performers this season from an MLS Fantasy perspective, while Martins and NYCFC have kept four clean sheets in their last five home games.
  • In midfield, MVP candidate Lucho Acosta is a lock in my team, as is Facundo Torres, providing he plays against bottom of the league Toronto. Carles Gil also makes my team and should fare better from a Fantasy perspective now that Gustavo Bou has returned to the New England offense.
  • Among the late games, Cristian Espinoza and Ryan Gauld both have favourable offensive matchups against Austin and LAFC, respectively.
  • Upfront, Karol Świderski is a no brainer given his recent form and Charlotte’s fixtures, and may even end up being my captain.
  • My other forwards are Cucho Hernández and Brian White. Although I may still take Leonardo Campana as a bench flyer should he start against Charlotte on Wednesday.

Notes

  • The final round of the regular season is just around the corner and it’s another small DGW for Inter Miami and Charlotte as they play each other twice.
  • In goal, I’m looking at Kristijan Kahlina as my main goalkeeper this round with Charlotte still being in the race for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Daniel is currently my fallback with a home matchup against Austin FC with nothing left to play for.
  • In defence, I have paired Kahlina with Malanda as part of a defensive double up. I’m also looking at Julian Gressel, Alvaro Barreal and John Tolkin for their attacking potential and Rodrigues for his bonus potential.
  • In midfield, I’ve included Santi Rodriguez and Christian Espinoza with their teams still in the race for playoff spots.
  • My final midfield spots are currently occupied by Luciano Acosta, Hector Herrera and Ryan Gauld. They’ve all stood out in midfield this season and I expect them to finish the regular season on a high before the playoffs start.
  • Up front, Karol Swiderski completes my Charlotte triple up and he’s also very likely to be my captain for the final round. Cucho Hernandez was an easy inclusion in my team with nine goals in his last seven appearances. He’s up against a Montreal side that he scored a hattrick against in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
  • João Klauss is currently my final forward pick but I’m not ruling out Josef Martinez or Leonardo Campana depending on who starts on Wednesday night against Charlotte.

Notes

  • 140 points and a red arrow to 1208 in the last Round.
  • CLTFC and Miami with the DGW this week and IM eliminated Swiderski plays early in the break with Poland so Copetti would become Karol if back in time.
  • I don’t expect Messi to play the first one so we shall see how they handle their line-up.
  • I’m trying to pick teams with something to play for but who knows here.

  • Malte Amundsen (CLB; 10.3m) – Four consecutive 90-minute outings prior to yellow-card suspension, recording 29 points in this time, and next facing Montreal with the best MLS winning odds and second best clean sheet odds this round. Four shots in the box in his last home outing versus Philadelphia shows his double Gameweek 28 goal wasn’t just a temporary spark.
  • Adilson Malanda (CTL; 8.5m) – 20 points in double Gameweek 28, three double-figure hauls in six matches, and 6.22 points-per-game since his return to the side, a double Gameweek couldn’t come at a better time. Owned by just 2.13% of MLS Fantasy managers, a punt is difficult to resist for the pair of Inter Miami fixtures.
  • Diego Rossi (CLB; 10.0m) – The new name on the block at Columbus Crew; 20 points in double Gameweek 28 makes him an easy attacking pairing with Cucho for the aforementioned Montreal home fixture. Another sleeper pick with just 1.44% ownership, he’s absolutely made for final-day selection.
  • Ashley Westwood (CLT; 8.3m) – Another top double Gameweek 28 performer (17 points) and an easy bench pick for Charlotte’s round-opening double. A high volume of passes and recoveries suggests a four points-per-game floor for the playmaker, seven goal involvements and a club-topping 33 key passes this season showing he has even more to offer.
  • Karol Świderski (CLT; 9.4m): 24 points in double Gameweek 28, five goal involvements in three games, and another double Gameweek; don’t go sleeping on Świderski! Sixteen goal involvements is double any other Charlotte player in 2023; 11.5 expected goals is more the double 2nd-place at the club; 2.9 shots-per-90 and eight big chances created also leading the club. If they’re breaking the Inter Miami defence, he’ll be involved. For these reasons, he takes my final captains armband of the season.

  • Midfielder: Lionel Messi (MIA; 14m); With two games coming up this week, the GOAT is a player you should fade at your own risk. Since joining Inter Miami, he has scored or provided an assist in almost each of his outings this season. Messi’s goals have already propelled Inter Miami to Leagues Cup success this year.
  • Forward: Cucho Hernandez (CLB; 13.5m ); Cucho Hernández is third in the hunt for the Audi Golden Boot, but he is still launching numerous shots. He is playing at home vs CF Montreal and he stands out as perhaps the league’s most dangerous attacker right now with nine goals in the Crew’s last seven games.
  • Midfielder: Luciano Acosta (CIN; 14.9m); Luciano Acosta has scored or provided an assist in six of his previous eight matches. He is second in the golden boot race with 16 goals and sits third with 13 assists. With the regular season nearing to an end, expect Lucho to keep racking up the stats for an FC Cincinnati attack team that won their first-ever Supporters’ Shield .
  • Defender: Álvaro Barreal (CIN; 12.3m); In his last four games, Alvaro Barreal has contributed two assists and two goal, and he was a key contributor to FC Cincinnati winning the Supporters’ Shield. He has a great chance to top double-digit fantasy points as an attacking threat with the capacity to keep a clean sheet as well.
