Best differentials for Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 1

Last modified date

The new season of German football is here which means the Fantasy game is too. Because of this we take a look at the best differentials for Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 1 with the help of our expert manager and contributor @FPLPlatinum.

Looking at the best differentials for Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 1 can be extremely beneficial for managers. Differentials are lowly owned players that if successful can help you gain rank and an edge over you mini-league rivals.

Alexander Nübel – Goalkeeper

€6.3m on sale from €7m, 9% owned – Arriving to Stuttgart on loan from Bayern, the ex-Monaco player has a point to prove if he wants to stand any chance in the reckoning for Bayern past 2024. The German spent last season on loan at Monaco, starting all 38 league games and making 3.7 saves per game on average, which is a boost to his point potential.

Monaco kept nine clean sheets in the league as Nübel helped them finish 6th in the division. Nübel started the DFB Pokal fixture against TSG Balingen on the 12th of August, making one save and keeping a clean sheet. Added to the fact that he is on sale, Nübel is a very reasonable differential to consider for MD1 in goal. He faces Bochum who narrowly avoided relegation last season and lost to Arminia Bielefeld in the DFB Pokal.

Josip Juranovic – Defender

€10m, 4% owned – The former Celtic man was a good fantasy asset when he joined in January 2023, notching three G/A in 10 starts. However, he would frequently rotate with Union Berlin captain Trimmel, which put people off buying him.

Despite that risk of rotation, Juranovic has started every single game in pre-season for Union Berlin at right wing back, including their 4-0 DFB Pokal win vs FC-Astoria Walldorf. Union Berlin are favourites to win vs Mainz 05 at home for their opening game, and with the potential to be on corners and penalties, Juranovic is tempting at his price and ownership. He would frequently take corners when he played for Union Berlin last season. He also was the main penalty taker for Celtic, and took and scored a penalty in the Bundesliga last season. All of that for €7m is certainly a bargain, and if he retains his place, Juranovic is a viable option for the 23/24 season!

Jesper Lindstrøm – Midfielder

€13m, 4% owned – With Daichi Kamada departing for Lazio, Lindstrøm’s place in the Frankfurt starting XI should be more secure than ever. The Dane amassed nine G/A in 22 starts last season and picked up 184 points, making him one of the top midfielders in the 23/24 season.

With no European football for Frankfurt, the league will be the primary focus for Frankfurt. An injury unfortunately left Jasper out from February to late April. However he has shaken off the injury and is now ready to start.

Frankfurt face newly promoted Darmstadt 98, who will be aiming to prove a point, however they only won one game in pre-season and only scored one goal outside of that game (albeit, the goal was against Liverpool). Darmstadt 98 also lost 4/7 of their remaining two Bundesliga games, and are significant favourites to taste defeat away to Frankfurt. All of that considered, Lindstrøm is a good differential to consider for MD1 in your fantasy team!

David Datro Fofana – Forward

€8m, 2% owned – David Datro Fofana joins Union Berlin on loan from Chelsea for the 23/24 campaign. Kolo Muani and Kane will occupy most managers’ teams, and a Dortmund forward will more than likely take up the third spot. However, there is potential for Fofana to make up that third spot. Fofana impressed in pre-season, scoring three goals and getting an assist in games vs Atalanta and SK Rapid Wien.

Fofana started and played all 90′ in Union Berlin’s DFB Pokal fixture vs FC-Astoria Walldorf, too. As previously mentioned, Union Berlin are favourites to win at home against Mainz 05, and Fofana could be amongst the goals as Union Berlin follow up on their remarkable 23/24 campaign which saw them secure UCL football! Fofana is a great differential to consider for your fantasy team, and with 98% of the game not owning him, there is huge ground to be made with him!
