Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 36?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 36.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Due a goal in Gameweek 36

It’s been a while since our last look at imminent goals – Gameweek 33, in fact. Alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin, there are a bunch of new names on the list, with four of the six still to play in Gameweek 35.

Ranked by xG

The Everton forward netted at Leicester, his second of this injury-hit campaign, and follows this tough trip to Brighton with a home match against Man City. If the Toffees can pull off another late-season escape, Calvert-Lewin will need to bring goals.

Last week’s same match saw James Maddison assist for the second consecutive time, although a missed penalty brought him down to two points. If spot-kick duties are taken off him, it’ll dent some of his FPL appeal.

Seagulls duo Alexis Mac Allister and Kaoru Mitoma are very popular picks. Whilst the latter has blanked in his last five outings, Mac Allister’s dramatic stoppage-time penalty saw off Man United last Thursday. Brighton are the only team with double gameweeks for both 36 and 37, with the downside of this possibly being tiredness and therefore rotation.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Gabriel Jesus both played on Sunday. It brought contrasting fortunes for their teams but neither scored.
