Who passed the eye test in Gameweek 29?

We take a look at who passed the eye test Gameweek 29. With a focus on the matches played so far, we highlight some of the standout performances of the current round, whether they returned in Fantasy Premier League or not.

Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However, looking at who passed the eye test in Gameweek 29 could be a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring into our fantasy teams moving forward.

Solly March

One of the biggest matches of the Gameweek came between Brentford and Brighton. The goal fest ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw and there were plenty of great performances between both sides. One of the best performances came from Brighton midfielder Solly March (£5.2m).

March was fantastic throughout the game. The Englishman ran the show in terms of goal threat and creativity. Creating three key passes leading to shots on goal, highlighting his creativity during the game. March wasn’t shy in front of goal either. He managed a whopping five shots on goal. Although he was great March came away with just five points in FPL but it should have been a lot more.

Jack Grealish

The biggest clash of the week saw Manchester City pitted against the inconsistent Liverpool. After the Reds took the lead early on, Manchester City responded with four goals to clinch the three points. The standout performance came from Jack Grealish (£6.8m).

Grealish controlled the game, holding the ball, getting stuck in winning most of his ground duels and became a major threat in the oppositions box. It was the complete performance from Grealish and he was rewarded for his efforts after securing a huge 12 points for his goal and assist. With increasing belief and confidence from the manager Grealish is flourishing. This could indicate, with Manchester City’s upcoming double Gameweeks, that he could be an appealing FPL asset moving forward.

Gabriel Jesus

The league leaders needed a result against Leeds this week to warn off chasers Manchester City. Leeds struck first after slow start from Arsenal but they hit back with four goals to maintain their top of the league position.

There may be no surprise that one of the biggest performances came from injury returnee Gabriel Jesus (£7.9m). The Brazilian picked up where he left off after being side-lined for several months due to injury. Jesus stayed a constant threat throughout the game and caused serious problems for the Leeds backline. Although he missed a big chance, Jesus scored twice to kill the game, collecting a huge 12 points in FPL. His return could cause even more uncertainty within the community in terms of which Arsenal assets to back moving forward.

Morgan Gibbs-White

Nottingham Forest faced an all-important relegation match in Gameweek 29. After scoring first Nottingham Forest were silenced due a Wolves equaliser. The game finished 1-1 and both sides came away with just one point towards their relegation fight.

There can be little doubt that the performance of the game came from Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White (£5.5m). He became the key creator in the match, slipping passes through the lines and racking up a huge six passes leading to shots. Gibbs-White was also a goal threat with two shots on target. Although Gibbs-White put in a great overall performance he failed to convert his performance into FPL points and blanked.
