Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 22?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 22.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least eight shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20

Due a goal in Gameweek 22

For those that can remember Gameweek 21, it was a good week for our list of names. Both Ollie Watkins and Harvey Barnes netted for their sides, whilst Jack Grealish was unlucky to blank with a 0.98 xGI.

Ranked by xG

With his pre-World Cup brace against Southampton now more than four appearances ago, Darwin Nunez returns to his natural home. A whopping 17 shots and seven big chances have arrived since the restart, sending his 800,000 new owners berserk.

2.71 xG and 3.09 xGI have brought in just one assist – for an own goal – so many used his recent injury as a convenient time to get rid.

At least Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored once, although alongside a suspension and two penalty misses. Up next is a trip to Chelsea, although sellers should know that Mitrovic has Wolves (H) on Blank Gameweek 25.

Elsewhere, Barnes remains on the list, Kai Havertz has a nice fixture run and Son Heung-min was able to follow his Gameweek 21 assist with two FA Cup goals at Preston.

The shock entry is Newcastle centre-back Fabian Schar. It’s surprising enough when there’s an attacking full-back here but Schar has been unlucky not to turn recent clean sheets into a haul. In three of his last four league matches, the 31-year-old has had at least four penalty area touches and three goal attempts.

Team-mate Callum Wilson is without a goal since Gameweek 14 and could soon make way for Alexander Isak.
